Ouch it got ugly!
I've only seen Mayo play a few times but it seems to get worse and worse for them. It was a pretty good game for the first half. Mayo was in it for a bit but the 3rd 'goal' really hurt. It did not look in from where I was but I was not right on that end. Things got out of hand in the 2nd for Mayo. Clearly Century is more talented in all positions.
Century needs to take fewer penalties and as the younger players get more confident they could be very good. They have 2 lines with Martini on the 2nd now, some good steady D and 2 good goalies.
Mayo needs to find a goalie quickly. Not enough scoring to offset that. Some better D-Zone play is next. Too many breakdowns
If Mayo doesn't beat Winona or Lakeville South they might end up 8th in the seeds. The other big games are JM and

Just looking at the stats from mnhockey hub
this season mayos scoring by periods goes like this
1st
Mayo- 12 goals
Opponents- 30
2nd
Mayo-16
Opponents-39
3rd
Mayo-16
Opponents-23
Is this a case of mayo coaches are just having trouble getting the players pumped for the game....or is it that the coaching staff cant make adjustments to stop teams in the 2nd period?.......

The sophmore goalie they put in late tonight might be their answer for next season. He made some great saves.

Do you think Mayo would move him up to Varsity and have him start against a weaker team at some paoint this year to get him some more ice team at the varsity level?

Wonder if they are thinking about moving him up and having him start against Austin.

Well by a "weaker" team thats who i meant

but i think thats what they should do....becasue at the moment i dont see VanGalder winning any big games for them...hes made some key saves but hes also made alot of mistakes......So i hope for the Sake of the season they would consider bringing this kid up..

I am embarrassed to be a spartan after a terrible effort last night against Century. The hit on Century goalie was uncalled for, as was the Student section cheers for the player that made the hit and the acknowledgement of the penalized player by standing up and waving in the box. Seven Goalie changes? coaches have lost control.

Mayo is on a 9 game skid thus far and has been outscored 61 to 17 in those nine games. Things have really fallen apart at this point for Mayo.

Quoted from Post bulletin:
With 3:03 to go in the second period, Mayo forward Alex Heroff collided with Century goalie Brock Kautz after the whistle. Both players hit the ice hard. Kautz suffered a concussion, Heroff suffered a cut on his head.
Mayo players and coaches felt like the collision and subsequent injuries were not intentional. Century players felt Heroff intentionally hit Brock Kautz.
Century's players were also upset that the Mayo student section cheered and chanted Heroff's name as Kautz left the ice, and Heroff stood up in the penalty box to acknowledge the students' cheers.

Nothing else for them to cheer about in a 12-2 rout
