For some odd reason they haven't appeared in this Metro Ranking. Very strange because they have consistently been listed anywhere from #3 to #5 in the other polls.

I'm sure it's a typo, look at some of the records, AHA isn't 12-2-2, Eagan isn't 11-3-0, nor we they ever. Didn't look at the others, I think these are the same guys that had Minnetonka in the top 10 as well, perhaps with the paper being sold nobody cares enough to get it right.

That's funny that Benilde isn't in the top 10. It has to be a typo. I've seen them play a few times and from what I've seen is that they can play. I didn't see a weakness.

They could easaly be ranked 1,2, or 3. What a shame to have the top 3 teams in the state all in the same section!

AHA is in section 5AA EP and Edina are in 6AA, so only two of the top three teams are in the same section. If you want to inlcude BSM then three of the top four teams are in the same section. AHA beat BSM....

True they did beat them! But that was their 2nd or 3rd game. I think if they were to play them now B.S.M. would win!! Just my opinion I have seen both teams play in the last 2 weeks and I think B.S.M. looks pretty good right now.

There is no logic in saying anything like that... AHA played their second or third game then also. They too have played many games and BSM would have a hard time with AHA let alone Lauren Smith.

I do agree about Lauren Smith. I saw A.H.A. in the Kaposia and I did not think they looked as strong as they did earlier in the season! Thats not saying that I think B.S.M.is a better team. Im just saying that B.S.M. looks better than them right now.

Unfortunately, we'll only find out if they should happen to meet in the state tournament. The only other measure will be their respective records in trying to get there.

In the Minneapolis paper today, BSM was ranked No. 3 in the list of top ten Metro teams. The above from the Pioneer Press still makes no sense, as BSM has better records than Coon Rapids and Wayzata, plus they beat them both rather handily.

i wonder whats going on at the Pioneer Press. i'm pretty sure we could come up with a more logical poll with everyone here. and for the record i wouldnt put Irondale in the top 10 (this is before their game vs. bsm by the way)

This Ranking is just silly:
BSM lost to Blake in the 3rd game of the season a day after they lost to AHA. But then they beat Cloquet, Blake and Wayzata back-to-back-to-back in they Schwans, and they should have immediately moved into the top 5. IMO, they'd beat AHA right now.
And how can Breck be in this top ten and not Blake? Blake is by far (according to those who know) the best Class A team in the state. They just finished beating Breck 4-0. They started slowly, losing 3 of their first 4 to very good AA teams, but since have only lost to BSM.

agreed PP is, and always has been a little off on their rankings, then tend to rank areas that read their paper a little higher.

Star Trib is a little better, but always throws in 1-2 class A teams in the top 10 regardless if they are worthy or not.

LPH - which is done by the coaches is usually much closer to the mark, but there is always room to debate.

bensonmum - IMO BSM doesn't have the goaltending to beat AHA, true BSM is playing better than they did when the two teams met, but so is AHA.

I don't know how you could say this when BSM's goalie has a 96%+ save percentage for the year. She's played extremely well and has been a major part of their success.

Stats

I don't look at stats as much as watch players in games against various levels of competition. IMO gt was the difference the time the two teams met in Nov. and I also think game experience (esp. big game experience goes a long way), which is another reason I think AHA has the advantage. Not right or wrong just my opinion.

Every week is a new surprise! Has anyone else noticed that in the weekly East Metro leaders they include Blake, Farmington and New Prague?

I was stunned to see who is included in the "East Metro" leaders. I guess that needs to be more well defined.

I think that maybe it would be best for each paper to do their own East/West ranking too. That may play more to their standard readership?

Probably the least credible of all the polls....does Eagan really deserve to be No. 5? Are Breck and Farmington better than Blake?

I also couldn't help but notice in the PP list of East Metro leaders that the BSM boys are included but the girls' leaders are not. Is that sexist or what?

Again this week, the ranking is nonsense. I can't believe it's actually a 'poll' where coaches are asked to rank the teams. It seems more like it's made up by one or more newspaper guys who have no clue. Blake would be a heavy favorite over 3 or 4 of these teams. Stillwater is playing way better right now than many of these teams.
