Is it just me or does this list seem rather long? And... 4 teams from the Northwest Suburban? Are there that many qualified people out there that want to coach girls hockey to fill these positions? Seems like these schools are losing some quality coaches. I have heard the reasons vary from crazy parents to other career opportunities, etc. Looks like the lifespan of girls hockey coaches is getting shorter which is unfortunate. It will be interesting to see how these schools will fill these positions...

If you look at the stats from when GHS used to track it:

2006 = 32 of 124 jobs opened this year (25.8%)
2005 = 25 of 122 jobs opened this year (20.5%).
2004 = 21 of 122 jobs opened this year (17.2%).

The list isn't that long, for a while schools averaged around 20% turnover each year. It doesn't seem that there has been that much turnover the last couple years. The thing that strikes me about this is the length some of these jobs have been open. In the past most positions were filled within a month or so, some of these have been open since the end of the season. Maybe schools are going through the process slowly, but it sounds like in a couple cases at least not many applicants for the jobs. It would seem schools would want someone in place to run a summer program, but I could be wrong.

I heard several of these programs are interviewing this week, so maybe a few of these will be filled as soon as next week. Anyone hear of people who have interviewed for any of these openings?

Heard pray tell, Maple Grove looking for another girls coach, would be 3rd in 4 years?? Rumors have previously fired coach (Koltes) may come back from stint @ Rogers...?

Maybe they should just hire someone from the Booster club??!!

Jim Koltes was just named the new Champlin Park coach.

You can now take Champlin Park off the list and add Rogers.

Wow, that's 19 so far, I hear talk that a few more will open up at the end of the school year. Good or Bad there will be a lot of turnover in the coaching ranks this season.
