Doubt it. They haven't been a school for almost 30 years and they still have more QF wins at state than WBL.

I'm still pissed at Mariner for beating my NSP team in '82 in the section finals. I was a really sad kid that day, although we did beat Mariner the year before to make state. Last time for NSP too.

I think I'm on to something here. We've gone for years thinking Woodbury medical doctor - or White Bear. Now I'm going with WB Mariner defenseman. The original WBL despise for HM were those 4 section defeats for pretty good Mariner teams in the late 70s at the hands of the newly allowed in catholic school. Of course I could be way off base here and wbmd stands for weapons of mass destruction or something like that.

Much like my prediction for the Stillwater game, the Bears won't win in OT. If they have a chance, it's in regulation.

Go Bears!

Wasn't WB down 2 or 3 goals late in the second during last years semis, and came back to tie it in the last few minutes?

Or am I completely making this up...

WBL scored twice, close together, with about 10 minutes left in the 3rd to make it 4-4. Wolter & Birkinbine. It was a very exciting back & forth game. WBL dominated the 3rd - Shots were 9-3 WBL. WBL had the controversial goal disallowed with 2 seconds left. HM had the better of the OT - shots were 5-2. Zepeda clanked one off the cross bar before they got the winner at 5:34 by Ben Bahe.

This is as accurate as I can remember from that game.

Oh, and it wasn't a controversial goal. I probably had the best angle in the building, and the net was coming off right before the shot was taken. It seemed to shift the momentum of the game to Hill after that too.

Let's hope WBL doesn't get cold feet before this game, and they give HM a good game. Good luck pioneers, let's continue the streak!

Oh, and yes wbl, you will probably win the fan battle. Like always, fans don't win the game, but I'm sure you will have more.

I don't know the HM Camo out is sounding pretty sweet!

But yes I think both sides can agree that a good game would be better than a repeat of the earlier game.

You know...... my spider-sense is tingling....... my woman's intuition is flickering.......just like how I made the comment after USA beat Canada for the first time in 30 years...... the more and more the day progresses.... I just feel...... tonight's the night.

It pains me to death to admit...... But I may have to give the boys the pregame speech tonight....

WBL wins......

If only Sager would allow you to do that.

If Hill gets the first goal I can see WB losing all emotion and starting to get chippy, which will result in a Hill blowout. If WB gets the first goal, we could have ourselves another classic.

It's over. Goldy picked the Bears to win. Add another mark in your loss column

I hope you're right though.

You are thinking of Jason Reigstad, Jared's older brother. Jared played on the 94 and 95 teams that beat Hill.
Go Bears!

Hill leads 1 to 0 after 1 period of play. Refereeing has been terrible with blatant calls beiing missed. WBL has slashed Shaughnessy on each save...ridiculous

Changeup?? I saw your pitch and it looked like you were playing church-league slow-pitch softball!! Come'on, give WBL a chance!

Or maybe not.

The only way White Bear might start winning against Hill in future years now is to make White Bear a private school.

Hornetsguy wrote:First period may keep your interest, by the end of the second period, you'll be fumbling for your keys...hill by 4....WBL NO CHANCE....
Hornetsguy??? Dead ON!!!

Not only was I fumbling for my keys after it was 3-0, I looked at the air ducts at the top of section 14 to see if that's where I would take my belt off and hang myself...

But because blood always wins, Goldfishdude JR came over and convinced me to leave after 2 periods and a 4-0 deficit.

First off, I am proud of the student section. We just had a thread created on this forum about the "sieve" chant being eliminated from Edina, and in that thread, I mentioned that my favorite is "the student sections using newspapers to cover faces and act not interested during the announcing of the opposing teams".... I hope someone took a picture, because WBL was totally awesome when the whole section + had papers up!!!

Hill-Murray started the chant.... "Where is Basil?" as in the former back-up H-M goalie who transferred to WBL... The WBL response was "With your mom."

In all honesty. I cannot be mad at the play of WBL after two periods.

H-M is that much faster..... that more efficient.....has that much better defensive play...... They are in another echelon. I probably will be humming the H-M fight song all night..

Reported as 5-1 FINAL!!

Great job, H-M!!!! Good luck in state tourney.

It was a good season Bears, hard fought and you fought hard against all the obstacles in your way.

Game may have been pretty uneven, but I still had fun this season!
