MrGoalieBoy wrote:Of course this means nothing now, but does anyone believe Luverne should have been seeded after seeing them compete? I think they were at least the 4th-5th best team there. Kendall Meyer was easily the best goalie in the Class A State Tournament, IMO...very good goalie.
There were two teams ahead of the field in EGF and Hermantown and most people conceded that going in. Chisago was clearly a step behind the middle 4, Luverne was an unknown and most peopel conceded that as well. Orono upset their way in and wasn't going to get seeded. You could take TG, SSC, New Prague, and Luverne and throw them in a hat and draw 3 out and it wouldn't make a difference as I think those 4 were all pretty equal.

Congrats out to Logan Norman who is taking home the Class A Herb Brooks Award. I fully understand there's MANY great kids all over the State of Hockey, but they certainly chose a Great One in this award. Well Done Logan!

I think New Prague was the best of those four.

You are free to think that.

Well, they were the No. 3 seed, which is exactly where they finished. And they did beat the No. 4 seed (SCC) 5-2. So not just my opinion...

I came away impressed with Luverne but still feel they were in the draw where they belonged and where they finished after the play of the games. The coaches again seemed to know what they were doing.

Was a bit surprised on Thursday when Chisago Lakes applied some pressure to try to get back into the game and for about 5 minutes had Luverne completely panicked and running around. Luverne coaches took the timeout and Luverned buried one soon after to fully extinguish the Chisago hopes and basically put away the game. There was also some unecessary play, particularly the open ice hit from behind on a defenseless player, I feel it should have been a 5 and a game. Other than that, a solid outing for the Cardinals and a good win at the State Tournament.

Now for next year, with the lessons you learned at this tournament, schedule some other 1 or 2 seeds from other sections, load up the bus, and start working your way back. Everybody is 0-0-0 again. See you in November!

I agree, hopefully Luverne can get a couple games against egf, warroad or hermantown. I don't think its as easy as people think to just get them on the schedule. It looks like all youhave to do is play them, get your a$$ handed to you, and that gets yyou enough respect to garner a seed at state. See NP and SCC.

That's a lot of loooong travel. Could try Breck, Totino, Moorhead, St. Cloud, etc. (an aa team or two wouldn't hurt).
The metro area isn't that far; use it.

But changing schedules is much easier said than done, even if a program wants to.
