Don't think they even will be ranked. I don't think they have a chance in heck to repeat.

This is the first time Hill has made it to four straight tournaments. The last time that happened was in the '80s. Love 'em or hate 'em, the coaches are doing something right.

That is a talent too. But I suppose for the record you need to prove only the privates do it.

Perhaps Brewster at the U should take some lessons.

Just got back from the game.

First off, my hats off to the Hill-Murray Pioneers for overcoming adversity after losing some top players and playing their way to the state tournament for a fourth straight time. The team got drastically younger and more inexperienced as the second half of the season began, but they didn't let this get to them. They hit their bumps in the road which made me wonder if they could survive sections but they indeed showed tonight they can.

I wish the Pioneers best of luck in state as it is the first trip to St. Paul for many of the members of the team. Make us proud!!

P.S.

wbmd, you're right. Lechner recruited 3-4 JV players to the team!! :D

All I can say is what a great game. tied at the end of the 3rd shots and all. You could see Stillwater start to tighten up as the OT wound down. 1minute 30 seconds or so left. Great game by both teams.

Congrats Hill.

Congrats Ponies.

Just got home from the Coliseum. Once again - wow. Once again - these are not 2 of the top 10 teams in the state, but what a great game. Tyler Zepeda put the young Pioneers on his back again & got them to the state tournament. His 2nd goal with 1.5 sec left in the 2nd period to make it 3-3 was huge. They were back on their heals before that goal. HM was the better team in the 3rd & especially in the OT. Congrats to Coach Bill Lechner for bringing this group of kids together after the dismissals at mid season. All of us Hill-Murray families are proud of our coach & team. This never gets old.

Best sign in the HM student section:

Stillwater - Producing the Hill-Murray Varsity since 1971.

my thoughts on "Best sign in the HM student section:

On Hill's starting line up 4 of 6 are from stillwater association hockey, including the goalie. I think it's 8 total players on the Hill team tonight are from stillwater. Just think what stillwater could do if they could keep their developed talent!

Again, the problem as usual with these "recruiting" arguments is that the bias is only looking at who Hill is recruiting. Maybe in the end privates only are, but how am I to know that when people solely focus on Hill, AHA, etc. Nobody really wants to analyze Roseau or Warroad because should they be doing a little of that too, that would kinda end the small school mystique. So it's better to continue the bias without examination. Another reason why is I have nothing to lose in the debate. Should only privates be recruiting - wow, duh. But should our beloved Roseau's be doing that, uh-oh...
