If doesn't get resolved, suspect JM will go back to Omaha rather than play JV
I'm not sure we know how gray this one is or isn't. If the family claimed to have moved and then didn't, but rented an empty apartment, shame on them for trying to skirt the rules. If the administration, including Giles, didn't fully research the eligibility before tryouts, shame on them. Face meet egg.
Sounds like a certain family up hinterland way...

Blah, blah, you asked whether I was an attorney and referred to me as a moron. Two words: DENNY CRANE!

Listen, Edina coaches, players and parents really don't like transfers. And, don't need them.
They got what they wanted by stating it was a sticky add and so for team eligibility questions with the MSHSL we'll skip the opportunity to add this player. Perfect. Done.

Unless they're in the top 6 forwards or top 4 D.

Yeah, I caught that too. Don't remember hearing any cakey complaints when a different kid from Eagan "transferred" to Edina after spending one year at a private school and a second year outside of the MSHSL.

If the boy has siblings and they attend Edina schools as well due to the family move, there should not be a issue.

Possibly, but stated a bit too matter of fact. Very much open for debate.

Burnsville's chances at a section title may have fizzled. Can you imagine the noise and lawsuits in Edina had the AD permitted an ineligible transfer to play that disqualified the cake from the post season and a run at another title?

That makes a lot of sense, if you don't think about it.

Or, it makes no sense, if you do think about it.

If Edina didn't need JM then why did he make the varsity team? Why did the kid from JV who took JMs spot hardly get any playing time? It must be because Edina doesn't need him... Each individual player has a key spot on the team. Clearly the coach picked his team as he needed it from the get go. I am positive the coach knows best. If he wanted different players he would have chose them. Let's let the coach decide what Edina needs!!!!
End of story!!!!!

The kid who took his spot has 3 points already. I think he will do just fine.

Hopefully "just fine" will be enough. Playing for a team as an after though can't be very fun. I know I wouldn't want to be second choice. Hopefully for the kids sake he won't even realize. I bet the kids parents were furious when JM took his spot.

I'm sure that the parents were furious, and the "after thought" kid was disappointed. But as far as I know, any decision on who is makes varsity and who is JV doesn't really have to be made until just before Sections start.
On the teams that my kid played on, there was always some movement up/down between Varsity/JV during the season, depending on who was playing well/not well and who gets injured. Being a bubble kid who didn't "make" the Varsity team at the start of the season wasn't a death sentence. Sometimes, it was just the kick in the butt that a kid needed to play closer to his potential (so that after a lot of hard work and a few 5:30am practices he was promoted by Christmas).
But maybe mileage varies on the other side of the River, and some rosters are set into stone in November?

Duluth East junior Luke Dow has been ruled eligible by the MSHSL and can suit up for the Hounds' varsity squad tonight. Good news for DE, obviously, as their offense will benefit from a dynamic player like him.

Has Jared Mickelson appealed his eligibility ruling? Can he even if it was a determination of ineligibility by the Edina AD as reported in this thread?
