Daedra Culshaw - New Prague
Needs to have a better year but she has the potential to be a finalist!

I'm not sure but off of the list I think only Grogan was one of the four all state picks at the banquet and there were some Juniors at A.

That's quite an impressive list!
I'd like to acknowledge Danielle Justice of Alexandria.
Her coach graciously gave me her stats:
2006/07 - She had a 95.6% save average. That was from 478 saves out of 500 shots. A .99 goals against average with 8 shut outs. That does not include the state tournament stats. In the two games she played, I believe she added another 88 saves out of 94 shots to her credit; including the 50 straight saves she made against Hibbing.
Her stats for 2005/06 - she had a 93.56% save average. That was from 436 saves out of 466 shots.
Doing my math, that's a two year total of 1004 saves out of 1060. That should be worthy of at least a nod.

Danielle Justice was one of the Juniors from Class A that was given All State Honorable Mention at the banquet.

How about Kari Hunter Bloomington Kennedy Goalie.
93% saves
46 saves per game average.
She played on a team with not much support. That is a lot of saves to average per game.

I think you have to add EP's Maddie Burke to the list. Solid Goaltender. Next season she should see full time minutes for the first time in her HS career.

How about Sinead Murphy - Jr. from Rochester Mayo? 9 shutouts and 1.60 GAA. And the Pioneer Press indicated she set a record for saves in a State Tournament Game.

Sinead is a great tender, but could someone explain the quote from the Pioneer Press (they are never wrong!!). Culshaw's record was in the two game tournament with 39 saves and Sinead played in the three game tournament. That record is held by Katie Fedoryk of Austin with 53. Sinead had 42 saves out of 48 shots.
I don't mean to take anything away from Sinead, as it was an incredible game for her, but please set me straight if I'm misinterpreting the records.
Murphy had 20 stops in the third period, which again breaks the two game record but not the 3 game.

Claire Richards is the goalie from Richfield that was All-State. She should be considered for Ms. Goalie. She flies a but under the radar but has posted a save percentage of 94% the last 2 seasons.

Splitting Starts

I think one of the more interesting story lines will be the Altman/Grogan could two goalies who split starts be among the final five? Will either of them get enough starts to be considered Ms Goalie, It will be interesting to see how it shakes out, but these two could arguably be the top 2 goalies in the state next year, and they are on the same team.
My early favorite is Pieper of Warroad, she is fun to watch.

I am sure none of you have ever seen Madeline Lenz at White Bear lake Play. She was all conference as a Soph and Junior. Has been invited to the NDP tryout both years. Beat Nixon this year in a 3-2 23 save game. Tied Roseville this year in a 43 save 0-0 tie. She is one of the quickest goalies i've ever watched play. I saw her at the NDP tryout this weekend and she looked great. Quicker than Altman or Grogan. Here record doesn't reflect on her play because the team had a hard time scoring goals. She will be one to watch in 2008. Their schedule this year was one of the toughest in the state and 5 of the teams they played were in the state tourney. I think they have the tougest conference as well with Stillwater, Roseville, Cretin who are always tough.

Agree about Lenz. Herzog from SPU is pretty good. Not flashy; but solid fundamentals. Has good goalie genes; she's a cousin of Rob Stauber.

Claire Richards from Richfield will show everyone why she will be the top goaltender in 08 because the defense for Richfield will all be new. The team graduated all four defense from the team this year. She has been a starter for Richfield since the 7th grade and has been solid the entire time.

The East NDP region for 17/18 had some of the best 2008 Goalies IMHO. I think only one was a current senior. I understand that not all may have been 100% health-wise at the tryout so I wouldn't use that as the only assessment of which is best overall.

JM Rockets Goalie Michelle Bonapance-Potvin is outstanding. The team in front of her isn't good enough to garner any interest though.

You will see a fine goalie again this year as Jessica Havel (only a junior)from the up north grand Rapids-greenway team steps on the ice again. She helped lead her team to the AA State Tourney last year as a 10th grader! She's got alot of "Game"! We in the North Metro area did not overlook her contribution to our struggles to get by this team with her in the nets!

I know some of you will post, Ms. Goalie can go only to a senior, but.........
