QRF (minnesota-scores) ratings are always way off at the start of the season. Usually, by the time the season is half over, they settle down and look somewhat accurate

Here's how they looked at the end of last season

1 St. Thomas Academy (22-6-0) 152.4
2 Rochester Lourdes (24-3-1) 146.9
3 Hermantown (23-3-2) 139.7
4 Hibbing/Chisholm (17-9-2) 126.0
5 Duluth Marshall (15-11-1) 125.5
6 Virginia/Mt. Iron-Buhl (20-8-0) 124.1
7 Warroad (19-9-0) 123.6
8 Totino-Grace (21-6-1) 122.7
9 Breck (20-8-0) 120.7
10 Thief River Falls (19-8-1) 120.1
11 Blake (22-4-1) 119.2
12 Delano (18-8-1) 116.1
13 South St. Paul (17-10-0) 112.9
14 Little Falls (20-4-2) 112.7
15 Mahtomedi (14-13-0) 111.3
16 New Ulm (22-4-1) 109.2
17 St. Cloud Cathedral (16-10-1) 108.7
18 Sartell-St. Stephen (17-9-1) 105.7
19 Rogers (18-9-1) 104.4
20 Orono (17-10-1)

Both the MSHSL and the Hub list them as Saint Michael-Albertville H.S.

...
30 St Michael-Albertville
So you comment they are in AA then post a Class A ranking with them in it? #-o ](*,)

They are in section 5A btw...
observer wrote:They must have an old computer. As much as I like seeing STA 32nd those are silly.
The difference between PageStat2 and most other computer ranking systems is that PageStat2 uses info from last year in the beginning of the season. Most others just start fresh with all teams being equal at game 1, so beating a bad team by a lot is way better than losing a close one to (or even beating by a little) a good team.

It is what it is. But it evens out throughout the course of the season usually. Last year New Ulm was ranked high, so winning wins out in some cases, but for the most part it tends to be close.

Those are some interesting rankings, many head scratchers, shows the computers need some tweaking maybe.

Definitely a problem with the ranking system. More "strength of schedule" calculation may need to be employed.
Waconia is now 9-2-1, but that first half of the schedule could not have been any easier. It is obvious that it was set up specifically TO create some wins.

Is this a good tactic or a bad one? Who knows?

Regardless, now that they are about to hit their conference games, this squad will drop like a stone.
This is a lower halfl of the "A" rankings team, at best.
