The Mid-season rankings for next summer's NHL draft were released today. Nine Minnesota high school players were listed (including two from Shattuck, so I guess 7 MSHSL players):

17 TUFTE, RILEY BLAINE
49 MATTSON, MITCHELL GRAND RAPIDS
85 GRAHAM, MICHAEL EDEN PRAIRIE
97 JOHNSON, KENNETH SHATTUCK - ST.MARY'S PREP
109 PERUNOVICH, SCOTT HIBBING/CHISHOLM
168 JETTE, TYLER FARMINGTON
189 JERRY, WILLIAM ST. THOMAS
200 DE MEY, VINCENT SHATTUCK - ST.MARY'S PREP
210 AAMODT, WYATT HERMANTOWN

Nice to see 3 northern MN boys on the list.

Only issue with Central Scouting is they are a group paid by every team in the NHL. There role is to put together a list that is based on positives. It is up to each team to break down the negatives on a player and move them up or down according to that teams likes and dislikes. Is what it is. I think you need to include the kids that are HS age but playing else where like Ann Arbor, or USHL There a a few high end kids from Minnesota that are not listed on your list but will be drafted with out a doubt and very high

Their ranking system inherently goes against the idea of only finding positives. Unless "poor" defines a positive trait.

"The full-time staff of the Central Scouting Service follows a checklist to assess the prospects' skillset and how it would apply to the pro game. They use there grading system to rank the players and when they publish their list released to the teams it gives a brief description of each player and the strengths of each player, not the negatives. Those opinions are left to each team to come up with on there own

Yes they do know that. You said he was on their level now and the answer is no. Will he be? Most likely with maturity. In fact there are a bunch of younger kids that are on the radar. Heck Gleason is a name you will be hearing about as a upcoming stud also

From a league comparison:
MSHSL had 3 players drafted into the NHL
The OHL had 31 players drafted into the NHL
The QMJHL had 30 players drafted into the NHL
The USHL had 31 players drafted into the NHL (11 of which were from USA U18 Team)
The NAHL had 5 players drafted into the NHL (4 were goalies)

What's the WHL number? Minnesotans are drafted to the WHL but I didn't spot any from the WHL on the list this year.

SCSU doesn't get as many Minnesotans as UMN or UMD, but they often get the right ones!

They are bringing him in this fall. Kid is having a fantastic season in Cedar Rapids!!

I understand he is having a great yr and is ready, but I wasn't sure if they could bring him in with what they have returning...

True, they only graduate Prow and will get Kuster back from injury, but I'm a bit concerned about Borgen or Widman leaving early... more likely Widman who will get his bachelor degree this spring.

Their only other defensive recruit (Cholowski) is likely to be a mid-round NHL draft pick, so SCSU will have to find a way to keep him happy as well.

That was my point.
