Re: concussions

Minnesota's concussion law was ahead of its time, now it is behind the medical evidence.....officials do not have the authority to remove a player even if they deem the player is unconscious. An official is usually the first person on the scene and often witnesses the mechanism of injury...yet have ...

Re: Does MSHSL or Mn Hockey have such a list of banned coaches

Meh, it takes ZERO evidence to accuse anyone, social media has made it worse. As a MSHSL official I have been accused of racism on social media.....the coach who had parents post that nonsense on Facebook also had been previously fired by two high schools due to lack of knowledge and control, he did...

Re: Does MSHSL or Mn Hockey have such a list of banned coaches

Anyone convicted of a crime is of public record in Minnesota, from murder down to a speeding ticket mncourts.gov Anyone who is a registered sex offender is also available to the public. To be a coach or an official in the state of Minnesota you have to pass a background check. I suppose you could be...

Re: notTONIGHT'S Favorite moments

2016, #6 Redwood with literally 6 skaters and a goalie takes Marshall to overtime. Redwood brings nearly their whole student body and band for a 9:30 faceoff on a Monday. Luverne played the first semi final that night and I intended to leave after the first period of the second game. I stayed until ...

Re: notTONIGHT'S Favorite moments

Plante gets all the accolades but Setterholm brought all this stuff up earlier than Plante ever did.

Lord did a whole lot with his candor no one else ever dared do, yet Plante gets the credit when Hermantown and it's class structure has zero in common with New Ulm.

Re: 10 Gopher Football Players Suspended

After watching today's game against a Maryland team who just got run out off the field by Temple last week......I may be old and sexist but making football players act like high school volleyball players after every stinking play rubs me the wrong way.......make a play, act like you have been there ...

Re: High School football

Two Houston County teams won state titles last year, just South of Houston County is Allamakee County in Iowa who also had a state champ in Waukon. Caledonia wins again, 45 straight, out scoring their opponents 186-13 this season, they travel to Chatfield next Friday in what could be their toughest ...

Caledonia wins again, their under varsity teams are now playing the Rochester schools, with about 100,000 less in population. The last varsity loss was almost 4 years ago.

Re: notTONIGHT'S Favorite moments

Setterholm's candor was always good for 3A, he had no problem calling sand bagging class A teams out. That said, those who were not there or have not experienced the GAC are really missing out on the high school experience.

The success of 3A hockey benefits the whole state.

Re: Summer Hockey Notes by KarlEast

I did some more research......off the major transportation routes there is a large fight developing between the city, townships, and county. The current state of agriculture has resulted in many farmers investing in and growing their operations, plus the benefit of leasing crop land to canning compa...

To address a whole bunch of replies........ My work group is about 120 from nursing assistanst to surgeons. 2 currently have boys that play hockey, 1 lives in Orinoco which is about 10 miles north of Rochester but in the Pine Island school district so Dodge County for high school, the other sent her...

Re: High School football

I have dealt with Mike Grant numerous times......picking up on what he does can't hurt. He rubs some people the wrong way and I get that. He runs a good program at EP, obviously Eden Prairie has certain advantages like a huge enrollment, low F/R lunch numbers, etc. But he still beats similar schools...

Re: High School football

Owatonna continues to roll.
Caledonia has a top 5 winning streak in the nation, section 1AA looks to be very competitive though as 2 of the 1AA teams knocked off 2 1AAAA teams in week one.

If I had to guess 70% of the jobs will be in the service industry.....kids in those families do not play hockey in large numbers. Many of the rest will be advanced degrees in science......again not many hockey players coming from that group. More kids played bantam hockey in Rochester in 1983 with a...

Re: Summer Hockey Notes by KarlEast

Best of luck to Rochester Century. Be nice to see a Rochester club back in the tournament once again. My prejudice is always going towards John Marshall but reality puts them in the category of team like Columbia Heights or Johnson....that said I do believe in a "state tournament" and will always c...

Re: Summer Hockey Notes by KarlEast

High school student athletes are expected to behave in a certain way, expecting their coaches to do so as well shouldn’t be a stretch. We are all human and make mistakes but at the same time telling kids not to drink then getting a DUI is highly hypocritical. If we say being a high school athlete is...

Sats didn't care about high school hockey until his 3 kids got to high school, he had good coach fired, his kids moved on....what makes you think he cares about Lakeville or high school hockey now? Lakeville was a means to an end, nothing more. He was the definition of what is wrong with high school...

Re: State of Hockey vs. Hockey Hub

At one time all scores were submitted through the AP through an automated telephone sysyem, that system is gone and has been by and large replaced by hockeyhub.....scores still need be collected and distributed by a viable system, twitter is hardly that at this time.
