Re: Early preseason Top 20 for Single A - 2021

Not the strongest year in Class A. Hermantown is number 1 going away and I think the gap between them and the field is even larger than the one we saw last year with Hermantown/Gentry. I think the contenders for the 2-5 spots are not as strong as most years, but I would give Warroad and Mahtomedi wi...

Re: Alexandria to AA???

I was wondering if the HS numbers might push the Cardinals into AA this last cycle. So it could be a preemptive move if the programs see that as inevitable. I think I remember the Alexandria Youth program wanted to increase their competition level, so perhaps a move that may not necessarily be relat...

Re: 2021-22 Coaching Openings

Probably a good time in the East timeline for Mike to step down. He and the Hounds have had a nearly 3 decade long run of being one of the top teams in the State. It will be interesting to see where the program goes under a new regime.

Re: MN Hockey Hub Class A top 16 for 2021-2022

There is no point in ranking Dodge County, because Brody Lamb has about a 1% chance of returning. Breck also graduates a ton. Morgan and Theissen return on D, but the top two forward lines are all gone. It will be a rebuilding year (or two) for sure. The Class A landscape looks bleak for next seaso...

6-2 final for the Eagles.
Somewhere Bruce Plante is smiling & clapping his hands in glee.
Who?
It is a reference to former HermAntown coach Bruce Plante who complained about STA when they were beating the Hawks at the A State Tournament for a number of years.

Re: State Single A Games 3-30-21 - Tuesday

I think "Potential" is the key word with EGF. They have the talent to compete with the # 1 and #2 seeds. The question I have is can they play to that potential? (which I think they struggled with at times the past two seasons). Their 4-8 record against "quality opponents" this season is a bit of a r...

At last count there are 34 teams in and 38 teams a maybe for the 'bridge season'. Now being referred to as the preseason.
Is this information available online or would you be able to post?
I don’t know if it is on line.
What do you want to know?
Who are the 34 and 38 teams?

They should move baseball to fall to accommodate kids who play both sports.
Baseball season (late spring-early summer)will begin after football (early spring).

Re: Section 8AA Class AA 20-21

Looking at returning varsity rosters, Roseau appears to be the preseason favorites. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see Moorhead number one at the end of the season. A senior heavy team kept almost all the sophomore class waiting in the wings on JV. And as mentioned, they bring in a very good Bantam ...

Yes. So Is the secret to beating Hermantown to get out and skate the Rainey River up north a whole month or two before things freeze up down south just like they did back in 64? This one is simple. How'd they do it?? How'd I falls do it? No one ever skates the ‘Rainey’ or the Rainy River. Not in 64...

wow- I understand the arguments for Hermantown to move to AA, as has always been my stance I encourage them to do so. Of the big 3 teams (Warroad, SCC, and Hermantown) I wondered if the Warriors might have trouble if their top line didn't produce and they played a team that had more depth. Not sure if that is how it is playing out as I am just tuning in.

Eliminate the "Opt Up" option - no exceptions. Each team below the mid-enrollment point would have to play A. In addition to Warroad, Mahtomedi, Hermantown and St. Cloud Cathedral you would have teams like St. Thomas, Blake, Breck, Benilde, Holy Angels, Grand Rapids, Roseau, East Grand Forks, C-E-C...

It seems it will be a tougher road than usual to the championship game and a title for the Hawks. A potential match-up with SCC in the semis and Warroad in the finals. It seems like a while since they have been the "underdog".

About 1 hour 1 minute into the telecast is when the goal is disallowed. Certainly appears as if the Bemidji player is out of the crease and pushed into the goalie.
That is my take as well.

Re: Section 8 AA semis

I think STMA and Moorhead are solid favorites. I think Moorhead got a bit of a wake-up call with the tight score against Bemidji. I think Roseau has the talent, but they seem to be off their game a bit and will have a long bus ride.
