No way I can understand this. I doubt the kids wanted to quit. And I'm sure most of the parents wanted to continue. I wish we could hear from some of those folks. Hard to imagine any parent, coach or player condoning this. The only injury heard of on Sunday was when two Edina players collided in &q...

Judging by the way Team Canada slapped the Americans all over the ice last night, not only should they not be thinking about eliminating checking until bantams, they should be looking into introducing it at the squirt level. Does anybody know if Team USA got the memo before last night's "game&...

http://usahockey.cachefly.net/Meetings/2011WMYouthCouncil.pdf P. 3 I understand I'm in the minority here, but I'm still okay with it. I love the fact that body contact is allowed at younger ages. Now I need to see the definition of body contact to make sure I understand that, but there is no move t...

Re: Roseau Bantam Tournament

Pool play starts 9 a.m. this Friday. Playoff games start Sunday.[/quote]

Nobody will say Roseau gave themselves an easy pool.

Any guesses on who will win and be the finalists?

Re: The Phantom Assist.

Was at the SSP vs Eagan game last week and only one goal had less than 2 assist. I know for a fact that some assist were given when they shouldn't be. At the end of the year how many points do you think are Forged? Just very bugged by this. Do ref's get the point wrong sometimes, of course. But I c...

If USA Hockey is serious about making a change,it probably will be discussed at their meeting in Florida in January. Since the USA Hockey is before the winter Mn Hockey meeting anything discussed at the USA Hockey meeting will be reported there. Place date and times are on the Mn web site. In short...

SE - Another bad assumption on your part. I coached girls hockey for 14 years. Both at the youth and varsity levels. The only reason I stopped was time constraints and my boys were getting older. Most of my teams were considered too physical because I taught them angling and skating through the han...

Please allow me to clear up my position. Body contact is currently allowed at all levels of youth hockey including girls. In squirts and girls hockey, well coached players learn to use contact for it's intended purpose. Giving players 2 more years to learn the proper use of angling, body positionin...

I spoke to every other district director after this presentation. Not one supported the FPP. We were told that we would have input in how this would come about and be used. This should exponentially increase the number of pony tails on peewee ice. Funny and accurate post. First your PeeWee son lost his spot cuz he avoided contact and now he loses it to a girl. This whole discussion is other than entertaining a waste of time: - Canada won Olympics - Canada has the most...

This could be so simple but I doubt that will be the case with USA Hockey. Eliminate the checking while not playing the puck, another words, "Hands on Hands". If you don't have "Hands on Hands" you are going to the box. I coach and under the current rules we teach our kids like ...

Re: Reason setting in?

Its nice to see some of what I consider "common sense" reasoning showing up on this topic here... BUT I am very interested in the merits of people who support eliminating body checks from the PeeWee game. Are there people who can respond to Politically Disconnected's allegation that concu...

Additional Thoughts: The metro has almost turned their winter season into the summer. What I mean by that is kids jumping from association to association and not because mom and dad moved. With that movement and desire to be on different teams for a variety of reasons (ie; closer to high school, whe...

Wayzata 3 Tonka 0 Wayzata wins it all in triple OT over ER. My Guess Is Edina v.s Roseau in the Championship in a Close game Edina wins 5-3 open net................. A lot of fun teams to watch... Re: Bantam A Hockey Tourny or State Football Sidelines

I completely disagree. Youth hockey tournaments come and go. They are a dime a dozen. However, the chance to celebrate a HS State Football Title with your team (who've you been sweating along side of since mid-August) and classmates, may only come around once in a lifetime. So, even if they don't p...

Should be fun game, Wayzata better than they have been playing. Park would of thought ranked higher than holding on to 20th.

Bet a higher scoring game of 5-4 or better.

Are you suggesting the 96 birth year is stronger and deeper than the 95 birth year. If so, then I'd disagree with you. No I am stating that this years A Bantams a combination of 95 & 96 (mostly) are stronger than the combination of 94 & 95's last year. A OK - I can buy that. Alright...it's ...
