Re: Hermantown is a suburb of Duluth

Well then, I guess; Edina, Lakeville, Wayzata, Eagan are just smalltowns as well. They should all play in the small town tourney then, send to them all to class A. Hermantown is a suburb of Duluth and it's hockey program has all the advantages of large city. It's youth hockey program is one of the l...

Re: Hermantown is a suburb of Duluth

How long does it take to get from Hermantown to Duluth; 5 - 10 minutes maybe? Hermantown is the Edina of Duluth! Hermantown is not a town, it is a suburb of Duluth. Less then 10 minutes form downtown. It was even on the map until 1975. I get tired of them playing the small town card. You are wrong. ...

Hermantown is a suburb of Duluth

Hermantown is not a town, it is a suburb of Duluth. Less then 10 minutes form downtown. It was even on the map until 1975. I get tired of them playing the small town card. One last A tourney for STA to bastardize. Now lets hope that Breck steps up and goes AA. Why so hermantown can win without a dou...

True story: Local youth sports association holds signups. At table right next to signup is a table with High Schools coaches promoting their fee based sports clinics. Is that recruiting? What if the coach was from a Private School, is that recruiting? Some of you guys are so full of Crap. You whine ...

How about:

1) Winning traditions,
2) Excellenat Coaches
3) Excellent facilities,
4) Programs that have contacts with college programs

And I am sure there are alot more.

I'm guessing that's basketball because neither Henry nor St. Bernard's has a hockey team (that isn't consolidated), and hockey isn't being played this week. I don't know anything about the state of high school basketball, but I seriously doubt there's one iota of recruiting in this story. Depending...

Link: http://www.startribune.com/sports/preps/17002211.html Yes it is basketball, but the MSHL rules on recuriting apply the same across all sports; and Public schools recurit in Hockey too? I love how your're trying to tell half the story and convice us of your bs... so from that 1 sentence blurb ...

Only Private schools recurit?

From the Star Tribune today ... "Three brothers will play on three different teams this week. Joe Bright is a junior at Cooper in 4A, John Bright is a junior at St. Bernard's in 2A and Jeff Bright is a freshman at Minneapolis Henry in 3A." Bottum line: recuriting is happening everywhere an...

Re: Doglover

Doglover In regard to your stupid transfer rule comment.....maybe the private schools should develop there own youth programs so they don't invade other programs and recruit there best players. Be careful what you wish for - I think most of the private schools would love to do just that. That would...

Good Points

I don't believe you have to wait to opt up. Lakeville South opted up in its second year of existence (which is where they belonged). they could have stayed in Class A had they wanted to for their second year. But yes, the teams go through realignment every two years. If a school's enrollment goes o...

Are enrollment numbers the right measure of a schools Hockey

STA enrollment is basically the same as it has been for the last 30 years. The school was designed for 500 students and they keep it at those numbers every year. Long before MSHL set enrollemnt numbers for each class. Maybe the MSHL should look at using some other measure besides enrollment. You hav...

Good Point

I'd be curious what Anders Lee's take on this topic is. If he had stayed at STA he would have won a state A title, but he left and lost in the AA finals. I'm wondering if he would prefer to play in a 1/2 empty arena & win or play in a packed arena & maybe lose. He's experienced both, just c...

Why Marshall School of Duluth (instead of Duluth Marshall). I really think STA has the most classless fans in the whole state tournament and are a total embarassment to our armed services. They should lose those those uniforms if they are going to act as terrible as they continue to act year after ...

STA in claa A is fine

As an alum, I'm curious what the opinion of students/players/parents, those still with the walls of the school. TI14, or any others still there, what do you think about playing in class A hockey? Aside from all the heat you get on here for it, what is your opinion of where you are/should be? I am a...
