The Magacians won this tournament last year and have won the only tournament they've played in this year. They have to be a favorite.

Dog- I'm not on the inside about these player fees, so I'll take your word on that, and don't worry I realize that this may not be in the best interest of "kids in MN playing summer hockey", although only time will tell. Then again, this is summer hockey, the bottom line is it is up the pa...

I agree with on the Magicians and Icemen starting there own tournaments as being good for all. Although, the Magicians tournament was clearly an Open level tournament, they did have some Invite level teams participating. Interestingly they are in somewhat of the same situation the mighty Alliance wa...

Hockeyguy27 is right. This is going to backfire in a big way for TH and MM. The talk I've heard is exactlly what hockeyguy says and people are not buying the out of town teams argument. It's strictly about trying to limit access to local tournaments to force families to choose "Alliance" ...

The Magicians are the favorites to win this tournament....they are the host. They also have a good team that has played together last year.

What happened to Roseville? Didn't they beat Wayzata for the championship in the N. St. Paul tourney? If Roseville didn't make it out of their "soft" pool (as some people are saying), then whose to say Wayzata would have made it out of another pool? Rosemount did a great job and was defin...

I'm sure that the parents from the teams that advanced were happy as well, but I wonder how happy they were after they got hammered in their last game. My kids team got bounced in the consolation round but if I were an Edina or Wayzata parent and only got 3 games out of the deal, I wouldn't be happy...

2pipes you are right to an extent, these rankings are for the adults and purely for debate, discussions and fun. You may also be right in that, the rankings won't have any impact on how these teams (kids) play there next game but to think that they are not interested as to were they stack up against...

This years tournament is for year groups 95-99. The tournament selects a coach for each age group and region and then that person selects a team.

Heard a rumor that players participating on Wi Fire or similiarnon-association teams cannot play on MN Selects this year - is that accurate or not? Can anyone shed some light on that rumor? Or did I hear something that was incorrect? That is accurate. The kids have to be part of a Minnesota associa...

The Hopkins tourney will go to Edina. They aren't as good as last years A team but they won't lose many, if any games this year. STMA may give them a run but won't have enough to beat them. In the BP tourney, it will be the Wisconsin team. They have a ton games under their belt but I predict this wi...

I think the stickers...teams....no, I mean stickers can be bought. Some are quite nice and will adhere for long periods of time. Others fall off after the first tournament. Choose carefully.

RR- no doubt, I wasn't at the tryout last night.( I did hear from some parents that were though) Nonetheless, I had no intention of disparaging any kids and that is why I spoke in general terms. With that, the top tier players on the AAA teams that wasmentionedin the early post ( Blades, Machine, St...

The Icemen are a very credible organization and no doubt they will be better than last years team but to think they will contend with the Blades, machine or Stars is a stretch. Most of those kids with "stickers" are looking for a team to play with next summer for a reason. No offense but t...

Interesting discussion about the win at all cost mentality at MM. I seem to recall not too long ago there was a discussion about recruiting top kids onto a team for a tournament. I conclude that each team wants to win they just have different ways of going about it.

AAATourney wrote:does anyone know the score of the 98 Machine vs. Deuce game?
Machine 8-0. The Machine played a Manitoba team yesterday and won 9-0. I saw a bit of that game. The few times I saw the puck in the Machine defensive zone, a player in orange was carrying the puck.
