Re: Greatest State Championship Game Ever
SOME WERE THERE. Statistically, it is likely that no one at that game is still alive. The factors at play are that total tournament attendance was not even 9K, so maybe 2K for the final. Most attendees in 1945 would have been male, and men have shorter life expectancy. Few MN males survive to age 9...

Re: Tonka Moorhead
What a comeback for the Spuds. In my long high school memory, this is the biggest comeback in championship history. Before it was HM beating DE in 1991 twice having a two goal deficit. Spuds... Love it!

I gave up at 4-1 and turned it off. Back now. Thanks to my son who texted and said turn it on!

To be fair, I'd be fine if Moorhead put Tonka on running time. But that's just me.grindiangrad-80 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2026 3:03 pm Really hoping to see a game like we just watched. They both have work to do to duplicate that game.

A great game. I was pulling for the other squad, but it didn't happen. Congrats to both teams.

What a game. Both teams playing their hearts out. When does Warroad get too tired as Hibbing is deeper?

Re: TV coverage
They do. They sell it through NSPN.tvhitthepost wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2026 10:36 am Does anyone know if 45 still sells game recordings after the tourney? Stuck in Florida and can’t get home until tonight.
Just check this link in a few weeks. They sell you a digital copy.

Re: Tonka Rosemount
As a Greenway grad, it was fun to watch the references and screenshot of the bracket to the 1992 tournament. At that time, I happened to be living in an area called Valley Park, which is a sort of subdivision of Rosemount and went to the championship game at Target Center. Rosemount got hot at just...

Re: Moorhead Edina
Had only the board called out Edina's cheap play halfway through the season. Oh wait, you did!
Total lack of class. I get the frustration of losing, but that's really not good to see.

Re: Tonka Rosemount
Curious: How many Tonka players did NOT play youth hockey for Tonka? Same question for Rosemount, to be fair. Since they said during the broadcast the Rosemount theme was something like "Home Grown", I imagine most of them were local. Its a Lake Conference tradition to look across the cou...

Re: Tonka Rosemount
Not a good goal to give up there. Backhand from the bottom of the circle. Wow.
High score is good for Tonka, not Rosemount. Need to hunker down and play defensively.

I posted a preview of the state tourney talking about how I expected Rosemount to put Tonka on running time, but that post got a weird db error and never got saved.
3-1. Crazy. Good for those kids.

Re: Tonka Rosemount
Great start for Rosemount. I thought there was a possible hand pass at the net on that goal. Probably not, it wasn’t mentioned. Anyone else notice that? It didn't matter, because the Tonka goalie touched the puck. That was my recollection. Tonka touches, it goes back to the crease and then kid from...

Re: A Championship- #1 Hibbing vs #3 Warroad
Heart says Hibbing. Head says Warroad. Lee Head says Warroad, heart says Warroad. Growing up Hibbing was the enemy. I doubt I'll watch with no cities teams in it. Just kidding. I'm pulling hard for Hibbing, because I'm still pissed about Warroad beating Hill in the '87 tourney. Never liked them sin...

Re: Tonka Rosemount
Never doubted Rosemount. You can go back earlier in the year where I said they were my pick to win it all. A strong favorite over STA... That said, they played a great first period. I already sense a little frustration in Tonka. Tonka is deeper, which may pay off late, but Rosemount is giving them e...

Karl is right. Gentry loses 2 skaters off this team going into next year. I assume they'll be the favorite in 4AA once again. Curious to see how they show up today against the Skippers.

Re: 4AA semi-finals
I saw Gentry beat East Ridge on Saturday night. Gentry doesn't have a lot a size but can skate and have several high-end skill guys. White Bear better pack their lunch Friday. Hill not going to state for 3rd straight year. Trouble in Paradise? Not really. Every team goes through down seasons. Last ...
