Re: been there too
When I coach that age group it happens that some kids don't want to go along with the program. My beginning of the season talk to parents explains that I will work with those that want to participate in drills and if a kid isn't on board I won't force them to play. They can spend that time with the...

What is the best use for blue pucks? -My answer is chuck-a-puck. It adds an added element of luck. That is a good one. This topic is great. Good laughs all around. The hottest hockey mom or the team with the best looking moms would be a good one but we need to keep this a kid friendly site. Even th...

Re: Holy Mite Hockey
I was at the SLP Mite Jamboree last night .... some behavior that needed to be addressed by the pimply faced 14 year old ref or at least by the coaches that everyone in the whole place saw if you can judge by the vocal responses from the crowd. There was a kid on the Blaine team that was slashing k...

State tourmament what a joke, at least 6 of the best teams are not even there. The north and south only provided one team worthy of being there. Burnsville, Chaska are not there, what a shame, I hope this makes every one ouside of the metro area really happy. It is the beauty of playoff hockey. Did...

A couple of things...15 years ago both Woodbury and Forest Lake were cornfields...more so Woodbury. With the building boom in Wyoming and Columbus Township, the Forest Lake association has gotten bigger and I see them eventually becoming a real contender. 15 years ago, you could have said the same t...

hockeyreality- what large associations are not succesful? First you need to define success. If you look at Associations that sends teams at the A level to regions and state consistently. There are about 10. How about Forest Lake, Woodbury, Stillwater, Blaine? Look at region participation, state tou...

Are we really upset that some teams always dominate? We should probably throw Roseau in there too. Their youth teams are always very good. They too should be forced to field two A teams to make it fair for the less priviledged. Not a good comparison. A small assoc. has at most 30 - 35 go out for th...

First of all this is a great topic. Reading the responses, it may look like a number of solutions. Great idea on limiting the team sizes. I esecially believe at the squirt level, teams should only be 10-12 players. Then I am all for fielding as many A teams as you can. It is interesting for those wh...

IMO...make these big association field more A teams. We don't need a class system in Youth hockey. No? Why don't we need a class system? Because it would make the weaker teams feel bad? Why penalize your top players? I feel your top players get better playing against top players. Do we want to deve...
