Re: Breakaway

less training more money after June 1st than NE, sounds better to me My son will be attending Breakaway Academy this fall. We chose Breakaway Academy because there will be certified teachers teaching the classes - not online learning. For the money we felt the structure provided at BA was better fo...

Nofinish, could not agree with you more. I think in many cases it is the other way around. In my case I am harder on my kid and purposely take him out of certain situations to avoid the favorism card.

it is only for minor penalties. 5 minute majors will still be 5, and 10 min misconducts will still be 10. Now that makes a lot sense.......

The problem with this rule, is every district runs things differently. I will use Bantams A as an example. In District 6 Bantam A play 14 minute period, in District 10 they play 17 minute period, in Bantam A, state they play 15 minute. So what this breaks down to is District 6 Bantam A will have 1:3...

Just as much as "it's been like that for years and years" argument is never good for anything, The "rules are made to be broken" argument is just as weak. This is my own feeling, but here we are again, changing "rules" so that our kids do not have to pay the full conseq...

It is a "penalty". The penalty for breaking the rules is 2 minutes. It has been like this for years and years. If you do not want to sit for 2 minutes do not break the rules. I could understand it for younger mites and maybe squirts, but not for PeeWee and Bantams.

1:30 Penalties.....Seriously

Can anyone confirm that this is true for all games with periods less than 15 minutes? If this is true, it is the offical end of the world as we know it. Why?

If you cannot make the commitment then do not play. That is just wrong. Playing sports is also a life lesson, if I am tired and do not feel like going to work, is that ok to then?

That is exactly my point. Do you really think it is ok to just take a night off, cause you are tired? Is that really fair to the rest of the team? Is it fair the the other teammates that are there at practice that night he decides to take off? Allowing kids to take a night off cause they are tired i...

You got me to bite. I think year round hockey is not good. Kids these days play WAY to much hockey. I was born and raised in Canada, and I did not start playing so called "AAA" hockey till I was a Bantam. Having the summers off to be a "kid", allowed for me to come back in the fa...

loveitorleaveit - Did you see this first hand or are you going off what someone else told you? I have met the CR head coach a few times and these story's do not fit with my meeting with him. Just want to make sure you are reporting factual information.

Typical MN Hockey responses. Stop comparing hockey to school. Hockey is just as much a mental game as a physical game. And if you do not think so I question how much hockey you have even played yourself.

It is more about getting mentally prepared for a game. When you are getting dressed in your shirt and tie before you leave for the game, it is time to reflect and get prepared for the task at hand. I think of it as getting ready to go to the office, cause there is a job to do!!

I agree there is not difference in actual time on the ice, but why is D6 the only district that MN Hockey is making do this?

District 6 Bantam Games

What is everyone thoughts on District 6 shortening Bantam A district games from 90 minutes to 75 minutes? 3 14 minutes stop time periods without a flood. Are any other districts shortening their game times?
