Re: A Traveling Trophy/Cup

This was interesting research. Since I only had scores starting with the 1997-98 season, Edina was the Traveling Trophy holder at the start. The trophy changed hands too many times since then (181 times!) to list here so I put the whole history on my website. https://leepagen.com/traveling.htm Man,...

Re: 3AA Final at New UST Arena

I don't see that on the MSHSL website. For AA sections, I only see finals locations listed for 6 (Ridder), 4 (Gene Aldrich), and 8 (neutral site). That does not preclude the possibility that the 3AA final will be there and the MSHSL web page does not yet reflect that. It could be that STA leaned on ...

So is the dope on the Sports site not available to those who apply those who have just the regular STrib subscription? Like you need two subscriptions?

Re: STA Boat Party

I think the WBL goalie was already planning on going to STA. Doesn't seen that 'gross' to me , but maybe I'm missing something. Sending kid to a nice school like STA (and living with your own family) seems 100000% less 'gross' then shipping your HS aged kid to live in a more or less strangers house...

Re: Strib ruins sports hubs

I gave up on the Star Tribune a long time ago. They stopped reporting the news and started to try to get us to think like their faithful leader(s) Plus everyone knows hockey is their 8th or 9th favorite sport to cover I get why they need to charge a fee now that their paper no longer gets tossed on...

Re: Farewell to the Govies

Wow, that was very well done. I remember that '84 state quarter final. Durose absolutely stood on his head that game, and his glove was the size of a bushel basket. I bet Curella still sees that shot (near the buzzer) in his sleep; he should have filed a report of robbery. I also recall the double o...

Yes and YES! Like a REAL tourney. Mix it up. Already too predictable - otherwise, same 5 teams every year, guaranteed...esp moving forward. Alas, now we know why Rogers to Sec 6 ?!?!!?. Traditionalists will pine, but too bad. Turn the page and lets ROLL! Speculating on that is about as useful as me...

Re: Any comments on the Gophers game?

Seemed odd the goalie wasn’t given the time to fix broken skate lace. The goal they gave up 5 seconds later was pretty big. Although I must admit it was a nice tip in that I couldn’t fault Airey. Just what does "fixing a skate lace" entail? If it means a complete replacement, that's somet...

Re: Any comments on the Gophers game?

The latest in what is becoming a trend: the Gophers underachieving at the end of the season. Was there some shaky officiating? Sure, but that's part of hockey. The fact of the matter is that the Gophers controlled the game for two periods hten, as noted above, they went into a shell in the third per...

Re: Any comments on the Gophers game?

I will never understand the naive idea that "the refs shouldn't decide it". We want games to be won by the team that exhibits the best hockey skills. Tripping, roughing, holding, & hooking, are not hockey skills. When refs overlook penalties, they ARE deciding the game, full stop. Ther...

If someone has to move into Section 1AA, the Pioneers will take one for the team. We'd have no problem heading down Hwy 52 for a final. And then y'all wouldn't be whining about a home ice section final.

I suspect that this had something to do with hav...
