Re: Never too early for rankings…
I don't think this is a one answer fits all scenario but do see more and more US players (Mn players included) heading to the CHL but only time will tell. Sure, but there are only so many spots. Malachi McKinnon & Poul Anderson are having great years for Sherwood Park. Why weren't they on Fargo...

Re: Never too early for rankings…
Does the fact they no longer lose their D1 eligibilty change this at all? Sounds like a great spot to go develop for someone who wants to play D1 No. It doesn't change that. While a player is still NCAA eligible, my understanding is that teams in the CHL still expect a multi-year commitment. Time w...

Re: 4A Final- #1 Chisago Lakes vs #2 Mahtomedi
I would say Chisago has to be the favorite this year. Mahtomedi continues to de undisciplined as they took 9 penalties vs Highland. Chisago has a dangerous power play as Mahtomedi found out in the first meeting with Chisago going 3 for 6 on the PP and winning 3 to 2. Part of the issue is not only t...

Re: 2024-25 Section 4A
Mahtomedi has scored 1 or zero goals in 8 of their 21 games this year - good for a whopping 38% They've scored 2 or less goals in 14 of their 21 games - or 67% Regardless of how good your D is, you can't win with these numbers. No doubt but maybe those numbers are better if you do a better ...

Re: 2024-25 Section 4A
I believe I'm owed an apology or two for my Mahtomedi takes Stateofhawkey - I would still contend Mahtomedi would easily beat Luverne. Luverne has played two top teams and lost by a combined score of 10 - 1 and were outshot 44 to 11 vs Monticello. They were not even in that game. While I agree 100%...

Re: 2024-25 Section 4A
Rumor has it Mathomedi redid their tryouts yesterday. All it really shows is the staff is in panic mode as well. To me it is real easy they need to bench the kids that keep taking dumb penalties and hurting the team. They won't change if there is no consequence. Also feel they are not very deep on D...

Re: 2024-25 Section 4A
If Luverne were to play Mahtomedi in a game tomorrow, Luverne would win. No they would not. Luverne has played ONE team in the top 25 in class A, no AA teams at all, with their opponents having a combined 15-32-1 record. The one team (Waseca) Luverne played, they tied. Mahtomedi has played 5 AA tea...

Re: 2024-25 Section 4A
They are very young the 9th grade Forward & D they brought up from the AA Bantams are nice players but a year away yet. They have two Sophs leading them in scoring. Goal scoring is overall is a challenge. That being said they are going to be a nightmare #6 or #7 seed match up at State. Just ask...

Re: Games of the Night
Demographics have to play a roll as well. Not just as simple as total enrollment. Mpls has how many public schools combined into 1 team. St. Paul/Sibley brings all the public schools in St. Paul together with Sibley. My guess is total enrollment is pretty large (much higher than the number stated ab...

Johnsonpres - Let's remember who started this post - that would be you. We all understand teams have peaks and valley's. Yes the numbers are low in the J/C association - I also know of quite a few families that have left in the last couple years for reason that don't need to be posted but could have...

57 - read the whole post - I said they even outshot Edina in their loss - so clearly I saw they lost to Edina. Maybe goalie had an off day - Once again according to their website they outshot Tonka 26 - 10 in there 1 - 0 victory. Game not as close as the score according to the J/C website. I am sure...

I am not basing my comments off 1 tournament - They have all their scores listed on their website - they are 20 - 2 - 1 including 10 - 0 in district play - outscoring their opponents 43 - 11 in districts and 95 - 29 overall. If you read on their website - they are consistently outshooting their oppo...

Blue/white - I sent you a pm concerning part of your response. Don't think it needs to be addressed in a public form. I do appreciate your response - I coach a team that is playing at a higher level and struggling. I have a great group of kids. We have 1/3 of the kids that belong at the level - 1/3 ...

I guess it depends on if you are looking out for the development of your players or just trying to win games. I would argue that with the new AA / A system they should have played A. In the old system B1 may have been a decent option. You have your top 17 (assuming full rosters) playing against othe...

I like when people get all excited over rankings - Just remember there is only one ranking that really matters and it won't be out until the season is over. If your child's team is not ranked or not ranked as high as you think they should be that should motivate the team. Don't whine - go play. The ...

OG85 - Not saying it was right but you should get the whole story before you start a thread - Yes the Wings went 3 -1 and did beat the Legacy. The Legacy won 2 of 3 periods. Legacy coaches did NOT pull their goalie late in the game and try to tie the game because they were up 1 - 0 in the 3rd and fi...

First I want to make it very clear I agree 100% with cleaning up the game. However in my 30 plus years of coaching and playing I don't think I have come across but a handful of players and or coaches that their intent is to go out an hurt another player intentionally. Yes we need to make sure those ...
