Karl:

Edina has lost Reno (one of its top four D) for the season and might lose Everson (top 2 D) to Ann Arbor. If Everson does not come back, are they still #1?

Here is a different idea for a kid who really wants to improve over the summer. Skip AAA and go off on your won with a few friends. Try these: Some high schools have intense STP programs with sessions for 7th and 8th graders. The good ones go 4-5 mornings a week for six weeks. This can really help. ...

Q: You need to understand that you actually do have a choice. Your kid can play in any association in the Minnesota or in the rest of the country. For Minnesota, you can waive out of your association and into another one. If that does not work, all you have to do is move. Rent an apartment and move ...

"SnowedIn"
Okay, so I got this right, during each week from Mid March through August with a break in July, the 98 Blades have FIVE 90 minutes practices per week. Is that right?
I think that the info provided is wrong. I went to the Blades 98 site which is public. I quickly ...

Back when my kids started hockey (last century) we did not have tryouts. We worked the phones, got some names, watched some games and invited players to play. Teams were formed in January. To my knowledge, none of the teams were operated for profit. Only the two top teams, plus the Showcase teams (w...

Snow: Give Minnesota Hockey some credit. The Blades site says they had four first rounders in both 2006 and 2007, with a total of 16 drafted in 06 and 13 drafted in 07. (link to stroy at bottom of home page). The site says six were drafted in 2008. Nothing on 09 and 10. The Icemen site lists about a...

Hey GreyB ... This doesn't happen_has not happened_with any "ONE" team anywhere. Was it just a coincidence that each of the players ended up succeeding at the highest levels of hockey as they moved on from the 7 years of 150+ hours of unique skills training each off season with BM? Seems ...

People give credit to the various AAA clubs for developing players, how about the associations and also the High schools. I would also think the either Shattuck or the NDP did more than any summer program for enhancing players skills. Agreed. This was my original point. A kid drafted this June, eve...

Your history is a bit revised. It is true that Bernie first recruited the kids away from the Blades to the Spirit and then again took them away from his coaching partner Irv Singer for himself in 2000. But the 99 Spirit played together after Toronto in the International Cup. By the way, Bernie was a...

So you know, Bernie has kind of blown his "88" success out of proportion. Yes, it is true that in the year 2000, Bernie formed the 88s as peewees with players he had coaxed away from the Blades team that he was assistant coach for and the 88s won most of their games. It is notable that sev...

How is is it that the D6 rule prevents families from making a choice to play for MM? It seems just the opposite is true. D6 is saying play for them if you want to, but not for both. Any parent can choose to go to MM. The consequence is you can not play D6. The right to choose does not mean the right...

So am I. All of those organization I mentioned have helped more players advance to D1 whether you count the last year, the last three years, the last five years or the last twenty years.

You tell me where my kid will get better training and I will sign them up tomorrow.
The Coaches at every one one of the following places have trained more D1 players than Minnesota Made. As you will note, only MM's 88's are old enough to be at D1. That's the point: MM is a young organization...

MM defenders are claiming that the D6 rule that requires kids who play D6 to not play in other leagues because it adds consequences to a parent's choice about where their kid plays. This is exactly what MM does with its players. Here are a few examples from back when my kid played for MM a few years...

Nice point, Observer85. 16 and 17 y.o.s who really want to can still pass up those others who don't continue to put in the time. Perhaps it is good to get a reminder at age 17 that no matter how good you are, you still have to get much better to able to play college hockey. Some kids who get that re...
