good point. "quiet" was the wrong word. Regardless he had a hell of a tournament.

Mostly agree with you but Jungels would be the other one who had 2 good games and a quiet final.

Re: All-Metro Teams

Good to know guys. Thanks for the education. I would still argue that group of coaches favors the Gopher recruits, and you know I love ripping the Gophers when I can!

Re: All-Metro Teams

Just remember the Strib is very lazy when it comes to high school hockey. In the past their writers just look at who is committed to the Gophers and start the metro team based on that list.

Re: White Bear/Hill

Hill was one of two teams to knock off Edina this year, while WBL got trounced. Obviously those are only two games, but I'm guessing Hill wins by 2.

As James Carville once said in response to Will Ferrell, "That was perfect." Btw, I wasn't trying to take anything away from those state champs at the beginning of the 2000s. Thanks Karl.

Re: Last 16 State Winners: Rank 'Em

Went to college in the early 2000s and it took me until the latter part of the decade to start following HS hockey again. I missed the appealing, yet bizarre, string of come-from-nowhere champions: Blaine, ER, HA, Anoka, Centennial, HA again, then Cretin! And book-ended by Roseau 'ships on either si...

hockey59 mentioned Nick Williams of Edina not playing against Wayzata yesterday. Did he get a concussion in the Eden Prairie game?

Re: Wayzata At Edina Thursday

First time seeing Wayzata last night. I had seen Edina once before. A lot of talent on both teams, but I was incredibly impressed with Matthews from Wayzata, and obviously Nevers from Edina. Nevers' 3rd period mid-air tip in was phenomenal. I thought the score was very fair, and Wayzata has a great ...

Hastings vs Blaine.....down with 42 seconds left against Blaine, 6-5. Danny Welch scored to tie it, then scored on a breakaway with .7 seconds left to win it, 7-6. Completely forgot about that one. What a game! Probably the best tournament goal I've seen in terms of timing, importance and highlight...

1984 Johnson beating Hill-Murray in the quarterfinals. East side championship game. 1985 Burnsville beating Hill Murray in the championship game. Scott Bloom scoring with under a minute left in the 3rd. 1987 Kennedy beating Greenway in the semi finals. Kennedy was ranked #1 and Greenway ranked #2 1...

Lakeville North history

I really only visit this site come February/March each year. There seems to be some interesting subplots around Lakeville North regarding coaching and parents' influence on the program. Can someone give me a brief history of the program? For years I considered the 1AA rep at state to be a doormat, n...

Oh man EP! What a disappointing way to end it. I can only see what's in the posted vids but that #20 should probably be done for the season. Sounds like EP's goalie gets to play on though. I don't doubt what you guys are saying about Benilde starting it but man oh man what a costly mistake for the E...

I think Green is saying that Anders Lee excelled because of only playing 4 months a year. I could be wrong, don't want to put words in Green's mouth. But the mental and psych pieces of a player in his formative years shouldn't be overlooked. I remember more than one kid who seemed to have all the to...

It's the frickin' long intermission between the 3rd place game and the finals that gets me. Thanks Century and Burnsville  I have wondered that myself - Why the long intermission between these games? What does Century and Burnsville have to do with it? Yeah what's the Century Burnsville thing?

I think most of us are just going off of what we saw in the tournament, not using a win loss record. This team rarely made a mistake for 3 straight games.

I have only been watching since the early 90s but, to me, this team impressed me more than any other team I can remember. It's hard for me personally to compare those Jefferson dynasty teams or the Duluth East teams that took over later in the decade, because I think the overall level of play has go...
