Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

But my point in all this is that making a prediction that 4-6 teams will dominate and be in every state championship game is such an easy prediction because that has happened in every decade besides one. You're contradicting your own facts: The 2000's - 9 different champions The 2010's - 7 teams wo...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

way off on South St. Paul numbers. Their enrollment is 799, not 1700. I see, I didn't realize they counted 6-12 grade in the enrollment numbers I saw. Regardless, I think the point still stands that hockey is too expensive and the fact that numerous first ring suburbs can't field a team shows this.

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

Interesting backstory on the A/AA split and its advocates. (I was in diapers when that happened. We're at the point now where a couple generations have no memory of single-class hockey.) It made me wonder how many more teams would've gone to state over the past decade if we still had single class h...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

All the talk about going back to 1 class seems odd too when you think about how everyone loved the Greenway story this year. If we are in a one class system, for Greenway to get to state, not only do they have to beat Hermantown, but also a Elk River/Cloquet quality opponent and then probably East. ...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

My crystal ball says this (and it's right 50% of the time...The other 50% of the time it's wrong) Over the next 3,5,10 years I think you will see the same 4-6 teams dominating the class AA tournament Yes we all know 8 teams get invited and yes a team like a Lakeville South or say Burnsville will oc...

Hill Murray announced their captains for next year and Oberle is not one of the four. A little suspicious.

On Twitter I saw that Chaska named their captains for next year and Pitlick is not one of the four. I’m not saying he is gone, but I would think that would be a little telling

Re: First report for next season

1AA- I think it is South's probably to lose. They seemed to have a pretty good group of sophomores while North loses a few of their better players. I hope Century and Hastings can take a step up and somehow win this section. Hastings returns 9 of their 11 leading scorers and they had that great goal...

EP has a bright future, Edina was lucky to grab the championship this year because they probably don't have the talent returning next year to get out of sections.

Re: AA title: Edina vs EP

My wife had a great comment about the game. She said, "The players who made the big plays were the ones who had nothing to lose." Colby was running around like a dog after a squirrel. No fear. Schultz? Same thing, though in a different way. Holt...a sophomore who just ripped a shot w/o th...

Re: AA title: Edina vs EP

Edina woke up in the third. They were lucky Jensen missed the open net, and they were a little loose in back, but I could feel they were gonna get one and next thing you know they had two. On a night where the top guys were maybe just off the mark, the role players of Edina come through. Big equaliz...

Re: AA title: Edina vs EP

Edina is lucky to just be down one after two periods. Getting out worked tonight. EP is forechecking them hard and Edina can't exit the D zone clean or complete a pass. Even offensively, they keep missing sticks or put it in the feet with passes. They have to stay out of the box too, whenever they s...

Re: Eden Prairie vs Blaine

The issue was consistency, if you call one cross check then you should probably call the other. I agree, they missed the cross check on Schultz in front of the net but that doesn’t excuse Hillman’s retaliation penalty. yeah, if you read through this thread you will see I made that exact statement

Re: Eden Prairie vs Blaine

Except when the officials call the game so badly that the official calling a penalty initially signals a tripping infraction then has to change it to a cross check after talking with the other official. It was neither a trip or cross check Other than the Brodzinski penalty, what was so bad? You can...

Re: Eden Prairie vs Blaine

The reffing has been less than ideal. But let’s be clear, EP has been taking it to Blaine for most of this game Totally changed the momentum. I will say Blaine has been very bad in neutral zone. EP much better in the center of the ice and Blaine cannot establish the zone. It might have killed their...

Re: Eden Prairie vs Blaine

Hillman should not have retaliated to give EP the power play, but the fact that they didn’t call the first cross check to give Blaine a 5-3 is silly. I’d prefer they let them play, but you have to be consistent and the refs have not been that Officiating has been, shall we say, "interesting&qu...

They just got a power play goal on that weak cross checking call where the replay showed the two players were doing the exact same thing, so its probably even at this point

Re: AA QF: Moorhead vs. #1 Edina

4-2 Final I thought the Edina D did pretty well keeping Moorhead to the outside, closing gaps and using their sticks. I thought Edina was trying to force some passes offensively, especially on the powerplay. Malmquist I thought was Edina's best player tonight. Real quick and smart with the puck. Moo...
