I was at the Minnetonka/Wayzata game on Saturday. Minnetonka dominated the game almost all three periods. Some factors for their loss: Dingmann played out of his head. The first Wayzata shot on net went in....Goalie nerves? A Minnetonka goal was waved off due to a whistle. Those sitting by me though...

Great post BBB. Goes to show you that it is not wise to "throw away" any pick. It is interesting to see the lack of Minnesotans in the draft. Not only Minnesotans, but also Americans in general. It look like Americans represented less than 25% of all the draftees?? So what has happened to ...

Gopher Blog: Your post makes no sense. You imply that Kloos wasn't taken because of his size, yet Louie was listed at just 5'10"--not much bigger than Kloos, I don't think. I agree with you that a 7th round pick isn't probably ever going to play in the NHL..what is the odds anyone out of the 1s...

My sources say that Christian is a walk on without a scholarship. I doubt Besse would have accepted that role!! Good Luck to you Christian. You are a great player, great vision, good hockey sense and skill. I hope you get the opportunity to play.

My son has also aged out of the Selects. He did always make the 54s, never made the final trip to NY. He is now playing in the USHL with a scholarship offer and will play DIV 1 hockey this Fall. The moral of the story is that this tournament will not matter in the Big picture. Remember Blake Wheeler...

Does it not say in very bold type that if you can't come to ANY of the sessions than don't bother trying out? Sounds like several kids didn't try out and advanced. When is Minnesota hockey going to wise up. Eventually nobody is going to do these tournaments. Then where will they be? Do the math: 20 ...

science guy- I will tell you. The rosters were picked before the tryout even began. The rosters are picked off HS performance and names they recognize. Every year the same thing happens. Two years ago Mario Lucia went all the way to the NY Camp without ever even trying out in the 54s. Rumor has it h...

OK, let's stop beating a dead horse. Besse is a Badger, they wanted him, Gophers did not. Good Luck to Grant, let's move on. Gopher Blog, you seem to know a lot about the Gophers, tell us why haven't they signed any defensemen in so long. Seems from the BC game that they are lacking in strong defens...

xy--I think your are missing the point of the NHL draft. It is all about the big "P"--potential at the next level. I have not seen Besse play in person but the word out there is that he is a bit lazy and a one way player. Again, heresay..but if the NHL is looking at potential for these kid...

These are the North American rankings and do not account for the Europeans. You will probably see that those Minnesota kids ranked under the 170 mark will have a hard time to make the final draft as the Europeans will take at least 30 spots.

Roy01, you sound like one of those parents who thought your son was destined for the NHL in Mites. Or, maybe you work for Minnesota Hockey who is trying to sell this tournament to the masses who have figured it out for what it really is--a money maker. OF course your child should go on his Sr. trip ...

My point exactly. Players like Rau, Bjugstad, Budish, stay in High School and come in with more success at the college level than a kid who played 2 years at ntdp. Goes to show you, don't be in too big of a rush to get out of High School, those years will never be given back to you.

Our experience with the camp was that there were some talented kids--usually put on Mario Lucia's team but that the majority of players were coming from JV, Bantams and even Jr. Gold. Again, taking anyone to collect the money. IF you want your child to get the best hockey and be seen by the most sco...

My question is how many players is the National Development actually sending to the NHL and I mean the big show, not the AHL. It seems that a lot of the players coming out of there are not having as much success at the college level (Travis Boyd comes to mind).

Save the $359. This is an over-rated camp. There will be absolutely no scouts there. Your child will get no instruction. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!

Like most tournaments the Model Camp has become more about making money than selecting the best kids. If your kid wants to do it, he will get in. Grant is a good player at this level. There must be something the "big" guys don't see in his play that they feel he will succeed at the next level (Gophers) and obviously the NHL has seen him play numerous time and feel he wouldn't be able to compete in their league. It will be interestin...

Jack should have been allowed on the ice. Not #16. #16 should have been taught by his parents in his early Mites days that this is not the way one conducts oneself in a competitive environment. I only saw the championship game, but heard this was his behavior throughout the tournament.

Mulesrbest: Benilde has strongest defense? I'd say that is still their biggest weakness. Although both their goalies seem to be playing their best hockey right now.
