My kid plays in this program down in Prior Lake and we love it. www.mnwavehockey.com
This program actually encourages kids to be playing in other sports which I personally think is the right answer. Are programs like this becoming more common or is it just me?

Re: Youth open hockey at Super Rink, is it worth the drive?
Has anyone taken their kid here? I am looking for some open hockey for my bantam age kid and am coming from the south metro. Just wondering if it's worth the drive. ....Or does anyone know of youth open hockey in any other metro rinks? The Dakotah in Prior Lake has "Development Hockey" th...

Re: CCM Skills Camp (Super Rink) & MN visit
Just returned from a great Minnesota visit. CCM Skills Camp made a stop in Blaine last Saturday & Sunday. 2013 marks the second year of CCM conducting these events. 75 Pee Wee age players were invited each day for a day of hockey and friendship with the purpose of promoting the company's produc...

Re: Open Hockey
I scrolled several pages and didn't see an old thread. My efforts to use Search were fruitless. My family plans on visiting the Twin Cities for a few days in mid-July. I see Super Rink has periodic open hockey. Do they get a turnout? Any other options you'd recommend for an 11-year-old? where will ...

Re: A new approach to summer hockey
Just posted a story about the Northland Hockey Group and their approach to summer hockey. It can be read at: http://www.youthhockeyhub.com/northland-hockey-group-a-new-approach-to-summer-hockey/ Their approach to summer hockey provides a different option for parents and kids who want to play summer...

Hockey Nut, I know what you're saying and I also know Prior Lake has a history of calling non District games scrimmages. They use to list them as scrimmages on their website but hopefully that's been fixed. The definition has changed for a few years now. They're all games. Call them district games ...

It was a scrimmage... Not sure what that means? Your team didn't try? If there was a ref, a clock and a score it's a game. Maroon and Gold Game 2 refs 1 hr 30 min ice time resurface after 2 periods 2 periods were 15 min, 3rd period was 20 min to fill the time. Scoresheets filled out Not sure if you...

Assoc vs AAA
I couldn't disagree more. I had similar questions and went and watched practices for Mites at Minnesota Made to see if it's something I should consider for my boys. What I saw was traditional drill work. Kid skates the drill and gets back in line waits a few minutes and does it again. I don't know a...

Re: Which association will dominate the youth hockey in 2012
In 2011-12 season, it was Edina in squirt and Bantam, and Prior Lake in Peewee who dominated the entire levels. What is the landscape for 2012-13 season? Prior Lake will have another very good year. They have an extremely strong association from the top down with good numbers and quality coaching.

You are wise to ask. My experience is that at such a young age kids will go along with whatever you make available to them. In a few years he can verbalize his feelings better and you'll get a sense of whether more hockey is his idea or someone else's. As long as he's involved in other activities, ...

AAA vs Association
Hi All - I'm new to this (all of it), although last year my four year old started his first hockey season. The association moved him up to Mini-mites instead of Rookie mites as they thought it would be more "his level" of play. So he was playing with kids that were all older than he was, a...
