Yes the first one hit the d-man in the hip but he was on the shooter so the goalie still had time after the deflection. I agree on the offense, Rapids should have scored multiple goals in the 3rd. Nope, that D was way back off of the shooter and the goalie had no time to adjust. Makes no differnce ...

The good news is they return most of their players and have a potential influx of talent. The bad news is this group lost 11 games and like ER could not beat East when it mattered most. I do like how they have upgraded their schedule and travel to the metro to play teams. Should be a very entertain...

Defensive breakdowns? The weak side got caught sleeping on the second goal but the first and third goals were both wrist shots from a distance and should have been saved by Gerth. The problem in the East game is that Rapids did not bury the puck with the numerous chances that they had. But they wer...

Obviously Sartell isn't like an Edina or EP, but its actually a pretty wealthy suburb as far as towns in Central MN go. Not sure what Hermantown is like though so maybe your comparison is spot on.. How big is Hermantown's population?? Hermantown's population is only about 10,000, though the school ...

I think the article did not have much new value in it. Everyone on this Board has probably been around enough rinks and Raddissons to have heard most of the stories before. Basically, he tried to establish the following things, all of which are pretty much undeniably true: 1. People will act in the...

Oh the days, being now an emptynester hockey dad. I agree the cost of hockey is keeping parents away from the sport. The early youth hockey days for Mites Squirts to introduce the game and associations help defer the costs is great. The problem starts when little Johnny starts to show promise and p...

The point is the game is available at lower cost options to those who seek it and want to keep playing. We hockey enthusiasts must seek out new players. Can't rely on them seeking out opportunities to play. And BTW the link you provided for the AAA team is $675 for the summer. Yes, less than other ...

And as I have pointed out cost issues are being addressed with free equipment and low registration fees for mites. Rec leagues (if in the metro area) for older kids. In small towns there are scholarships and fundraising opportunities. Small towns need bodies and they do whatever they can to get/kee...

Low cost hockey option? http://www.minnesotahockey.org/recleague . And for those small towns all over the state the associations bend over backwards to make sure any family who wants their kid to play they'll find a way to cover the cost whether it is through volunteering, scholarships, sponsorship...

I got curious. Went to their JV roster since it might have been a jv kid from last year who came up. I need to know better than to start to wonder about things as I always get side tracked. http://www.mnhockeyhub.com/page/show/1026499-grand-rapids?subseason=138815 They had another kid in net last ye...

Re: Grand Rapids
The Grand Rapids Thunderhawks have an interesting season in front of them. They lost the Mr. Hockey winner & the Frank Brimsek winner, but return some very talented forwards and the blue line will be a year older. Between the pipes is a big question mark at this point. GRHS Hockey Online will h...

The way they set that up did not make sense at first but now it does. Saying that in order for them to play AAA they had to be all registered to the home associatin for the home for the AAA team really limits it. These kids will all have to join the association (or at least live in the district) and...

Cloquet folks laugh at the idiocy that runs East. They could have the greatest rivalry weekend in the state and have a sell out at the big rink downtown, but East is afraid to lose to A programs. I know because I talked with the AD. Twice. Uh-huh. This is the part where we just believe you, right? ...

I think that the Hermantown program will have to go AA just to keep the forward progress that they have now. Somebody in an earlier post said that nobody leaves Hermantown and that is just not true. They have lost kids to other schools (Denfeld for sure, and I think at least one to Marshal that I k...

I think the interest is there but both MN Hockey at the youth and high school levels would pitch such a fit about AAA hockey getting any more of a sanction in the state than it does now that it would not work. In order for a AAA team to be registered in the state through USA Hockey MN Hockey would h...

You are completely right. Either way you go to better yourself and your future is good. I tell all of my kids that you have to do something. If you are thinking about an NHL high draft pick going right to the big show they probably would. For a few years, or less as statistics clearly show. Your overall earning potenti...

You are saying what I am saying. The fact that 21 out of 25 CHL kids do not get a college degree was presented in a way that I took to mean that those kids did not succeed in life. I assume (ouch) that the poster did not include kids who got a truck driving cert and are driving truck. The kids who g...
