Re: Janne Kivihalme Out at Lakeville South
Maybe you should put as much effort into closing open enrollment in the Lakeville School District. As long as it remains an legal and viable option, your “community hockey” program is and will always be a very large community. Don’t like it, elect new school board members and close open enrollment ...

Criminal, I hope they are able to find all of the replacement coaches they're going to need. Is high school hockey likely to follow suit?

Re: Mask recommendations for high school hockey
My son started tryouts with the CCM mask. He said it was way too hard to breathe and annoying when you looked down. He switched to a generic paper blue mask halfway through and said that was much better. He also said they did conditioning at the end for 10 minutes and kids were practically passing o...

Re: Checking in bantams
My son plays Bantam A and there is an average of 1 checking from behind/boarding (2 and 10) per game. The average is probably actually slightly over 1 per game. That said, I would not want checking taken out of Bantams. I'd rather see stiffer penalties for checking from behind/boarding/head shots.

It was a little disappointing. At times it felt like expensive pick up hockey. Other times it was exciting and competitive. It was obvious that the league struggled to get top players to fill the teams. Most weekends my sons team played with 3 defense. Maybe 7 to 9 kids showed up. There wasn't real...

No kid is waiting at the door for dad to come home to take him to the rink. Not true at all. My kid is, more often than not, literally waiting at the door, carrying his equipment, raring to go. He doesn't even want to give me time to change, grab a snack, etc. That being said, if I think my kid nee...

If it was more of a convenience thing, teams wouldn't be required to stay in these hotels by the tournament directors....knights58 wrote:It's more of a convenience thing for the teams coming in so they do not have to do a bunch of searching.

The other area I feel USAH could become more invovled is at the very top of the pyramid, college hockey. They could better use their resources and influence to assist and encourage more colleges to start varsity programs. The way I look at it now, with the TV money the Big Ten schools are rolling i...

As seen through the eyes of an adult. Through the eyes of a child.....maybe not so much. Is painting lines on a soccer field to make it smaller really different than playing cross ice in hockey? To a child? It's significantly different. Reason being, a child can skate the length of the ice in about...

Re: MITE ADM From Illinois Parent
If you have 20+ kids per station, the problem isn't ADM, it's that you have WAY too many kids on the ice.sportsdevotees wrote: Since most Illinois parent see it has a process to stuff as many kids on the ice, in groups of 20+ per small ice area. NOt allowing for 1-1 coaching. Pretty much rejecting the ADM program.

Re: IMHO
I remember the 5 on 5 full ice Mini Mite games well. One kid had the puck the entire time and everyone else watched. The shot comes with time. Better to use your ice time for skating at that age. You can work on your shot off the ice. Don't have to pay for garage time. Our association plays both fu...

At a Bantam game, ref blowed the whistle and called the puck covered by the goalie AFTER the puck went into the net. The ref who made the call was right behind the kid who knocked in the puck. What would you call this ref? Blind, home-cooking, incompetent or anything else? Sounds to me like he was ...

Re: combined associations
I for one think its time again to raise the debate about combining programs in Bloomington - The girls H.S. program did it this season. Why not the boys? Kennedy youth is combined with Richfield this year. The message I get from Kennedy parents is that Jefferson is above combining with them....that...

This is going to sound insane but I swear by it. SECoach was right with his suggestion on XBOX or PS3 NHL hockey, particularly EA NHL 2009-2013. In this game, you can play Be A Pro in which you play as a player in one position the entire time and it has an arrow that comes on the screen telling you ...

They can be a level 1 but I think I was told you have to take a class every year regardless. I could be wrong though. If a level 2 is offered have them take it. Once they get to level 3 everything can be done online The problem with this is if you have a parent coach start when their child is 6 yrs...
