Select 17 Festival
Wow was I surprised to see that the Minnesota team finished with a 1-3-2 record. I cannot remember a Minnesota team ever doing this bad. What happened? Was the team poorly picked or what? I am even more suprised considering USHR named the Minnesota team the favorites.

Re: USHL
Anyone and everyone is eligible to be drafted. But most kids that are drafted are between the ages of 16-20.

Re: USHL
No, its the first year the USHL does not have tenders. Before this year, each team could sign 3 players to tenders before the draft, meaning the rights of that player belonged to that team. But the USHL has had a draft for awhile now.

Re: draft
First off, Gifford is ranked #122 in the North American list, which means he could probably fall down to as many as 50 spots once they factor in the European skaters. But yes, no other drafts have any bearing on the USHL draft.

Re: Selects 17 Minnesota Hockey Failed Us
If Im not mistaken, I think this happened a couple years ago. Patrick Eaves and Mark Stuart were put on the team despite playing for the USNDTP. I agree its a pretty stupid move on the part of the organizers of the team.

Re: Midgets
I wouldnt say others are catching up. Yes, California has really picked it up over the past 5 or so years. But not only did the seniors that have commitments didnt play, but also you have to consider the number of seniors that skipped their last year of school to play juniors. Year in and year out, ...

Re: CDH
Ok, lets see here. Cretin appealed after the SEC had appealed. I guarentee if the SEC hadnt appealed, Cretin wouldn't have either. They are just looking for a conference, so its far too late in the process for Cretin to be saying "no" to conferences.

Re: CDH
Who exactly is complaining? Because you know Cretin would love nothing more than to be put in the SEC.

Re: Cretin conference
Other high schools have problems with Cretin in a couple areas. One being the size of the school, another being the recruiting rumor associated with CDH over the last decade or so. Cretin would love to be in the Classic, and I for one would love to see it to. But Cretin is much larger than most of t...

Re: cretin's new conference
Not sure if it's finalized, but as far as I know, they were placed in the conference with White Bear Lake, Mounds View, and those teams. I know Cretin appealed it, but I havent heard of anything since.

Re: Denver University - National Champions!!!
By far one of the worst college hockey games I have ever seen. The last minute was exciting, but it was too little, too late. Congrats to Denver, but I was hoping a more exciting game.

Make sure and do all of the things Eaves mentioned. On another note, I wouldnt get too excited about this. College coaches do this to about 10-15 kids every year, just so they can keep their options open. It's all a business.

This isnt even up for debate? Gordon is the better player of these two, and is the best player in the state. Gordon has had mr. hockey wrapped since that state tournament of last year. He has been successful in high school hockey, the ushl, and every other elite team he has played on in the off seas...

The best line in the state that I have seen would be Holy Angels first line. Huck and Kilpatrick are both extrememly skilled, and no matter who plays with them, that player will be good too. Anybody who has seen Kilpatrick play would agree he should get serious consideration for Mr. Hockey. I wouldn...

Geez, blast a kid who tries to score, I mean, scoring isnt part of hockey or anything! If I had his shot, I'd be shooting constantly too. And if I can remember correctly, he had 2 assists, and one was a beautiful pass to Huck on a 2 on 1. And another thing, it's easy to criticize when youre watching...

Like I said before, Kilpatrick, in my opinion, is the best player in the state. He's got size, awesome hands, phenominal shot, great speed, lets face it, hes the total package. Personally, I was not very impressed with Dey. I can see he has a lot of potential and why NHL scouts are all about him, bu...

I honestly have not seen the 3 from North St.Paul play this year, but Im gonna check 2 of them out tonight against Hill. But the best player I have seen so far this year has been Kilpatrick. I havent seen Gordon play this year either. But I have a feeling Gordon is going to win it. He's got the numb...
