Re: Official Coaching Openings - 2025-26

The reality is Eden Prairie is a dying program. It’s going the way of other former powerhouses like Burnsville and Bloomington Jefferson. The city is fully developed, the school district has declining enrollment, the youth hockey numbers are way down and the high school is now more than 50% non-whi...

So I know nothing about him, but I can’t imagine this is how those parents who chased out Twig saw this one playing out like this.

Re: Official Coaching Openings - 2025-26

headsupsticksdown--You seem to be a little plugged in, or at least know someone that knows someone. What are you hearing about the EP coaching search? I heard two things, so who knows if it's true, but this is a message board, so it's fun to throw this on a wall: 1) An assistant interviewed & wa...

Re: Coaching Changes

EP definitely trying to promote for the job.

Will be interesting who ends up getting it. Definitely a name mega school, but there does seem to be some potential barriers to the job.

Re: Coaching Changes

I'm rather interested in who at EP would have a legit reason to even be upset. I agree with you headsupsticksdown....it's fine to be disappointed in how the season ended & I guess that's ultimately what sometimes is all that matters at certain schools, but big picture considering the roster, pre...

Re: Coaching Changes

For EP? Definitely below Minnetonka/Edina/Prior Lake & I'd say CC (although they split up & Holy Fam is a factor as well).

Re: Never too early for rankings…

Don't have any first hand knowledge, but judging from what some talk has been over the year(s) & even the post tourney Rink of Fire podcast, chance that Freddie Schneider is a flight risk. Edina certainly is a reload, not rebuild program, but he's a high end player that would obviously hurt losi...

Re: Odds against winning 2025 AA Boys state championship

I always find the "Edina Recruits" whiners funny. Edina doesn't need to recruit, and in fact they hemorrhage talent to private schools like STA and BSM and Blake and Breck. In fact last year Michael Risteau transferred in from BSM and Giles stuck him on the third line, so I wonder if ther...

Re: AA State

We should be able to help them with the seeds. Here are my opinions: -Hill Murray the 1, if they win -Moorhead next in line -This is where debates can begin. My thoughts: -I think St Thomas Academy grabs next spot, but could see Stillwater jumping them with win. -Stillwater v. Edina? Tough call. Sti...

I have a hard time believing BIG has a larger capacity than Braemar.

Perhaps those numbers are according to the Fire Marshall. I swear, 90% of a Fire Marshall's job is to prevent people from going to sporting events.

Re: Section Venues

I thought I remembered it being a Blake parent, but I think the point remains. I used to think it was ridiculous with the empty building & thought it should be at Ridder, but it doesn't bother me anymore. Xcel is the pinnacle arena to play at in the state, so I got no problem with it being the u...

Re: The good old days

I do think there's something to the regular season not having the following or energy from those other than the parents or die hards. It does seem like Sections do ramp it up though. There's been complaining about the 2AA/6AA & the venues perhaps being a bit too small, but I will admit that the ...

Re: Games Thursday 12-12-24

A nice week for EP; have set themselves up nicely for 6AA, which is important for first round game; I think 6AA is 6 deep, not in terms of state title teams, but in terms of tough teams in a one & done game. EP is 2AA. Used to be 6AA a handful of years ago. I keep mixing up 2AA & 6AA. I kno...

Re: Games Thursday 12-12-24

Was at the game. Shakopee: I think their ceiling is higher than EP's, but man, they are careless in their own zone. Good thing for them is they should have plenty of time to attempt to get that end figured out during January going in to the stretch run. They didn't help themselves in terms of 6AA se...

EP did have a kid come in, but I believe he has transferred to Shakopee since. Must have not liked the way captain's practice was going. If you’re talking about the TG kid, I actually think the want and expectation was to come home to EP, but the address issue threw things off. This was not a...

Re: AA Preseason Ranking

Shako at #1 seems premature when Edina is the defending champ. Holy Angels seems a tad high but I am excited to see what that group can do. Haven't paid attention to transfers, who did EP have come in to get them up to #11? Where is Maple Grove? It will be fun to watch the new blood (Shako / Rogers...

Maple Grove joining Lake Conference

Just read on Gopherhole.com that Maple Grove will be joining the Lake Conference beginning next season. Edina & Wayzata were already seeing them once at the beginning of the season. But all of those heavyweights seeing each other 2x a season now.....grab your popcorn! Might we see the first ever...

https://www.jfkhockey.com/ The Kennedy High School Boys Hockey program is preparing to embark on what will be a historic and final 2024-2025 season. A season to celebrate. The Eagles have made 7 state appearances, earned one state title and produced numerous college and professional players that hav...

Re: 2024-25 Transfer Watch List

I think what it comes down to (and this is just my opinion) is parents of kids are ok with transfers, as long as it doesn't affect their child. If you have say 5 kids that transfer in, to them, that's eliminating the weakest 5 kids that holding the team back from whatever potential end of the season...

Re: 2024-25 Transfer Watch List

I actually think they'll be OK at goalie, but headsupsticksdown is a bit higher on EP's current sophomore (next year's juniors) than I am. Other than Moe, I don't see much meat on that bone that should scare anyone, opponents and/or potential transfers looking for an open spot(s) both included.

Re: 2024-25 Transfer Watch List

I heard that Tavin Dobchuck, a 9th grade EP resident, who went to school at Holy Family last year was spotted in Tonka gear and may be transferring there. EP used to have people transfer in, now they are transferring out, and Tonka is getting the transfers This is a head scratcher for me. I’d say i...
