Saw Dennis Bushy in action along side Bryan Henrichs this past week at Breezy Points Hockey Camp, a nice pair of coaches. I'm bias to Bryan because I know him from Brainerd and men's league. The one thing that strikes me is how I've heard of some of these other coaches (LaCombe, Henrichs - Bryan's r...

Haven't seen or heard from Bryan since end of men's league and would like to see him take over but, my gut says this is a rumor.

I would have to believe that this Warrior team will compete however, please don't try and create a parallel between them and the Patriots' pre-season situations and that which followed (not that it was your intention).

I agree, pre-season means nothing. Who looked good this past weekend?

It may not be a statewide thriller however, the Brainerd vs. Little Falls at either barn is a heated game as of late.

Reality Check, how good was the Bantam A' Team for Hill Murray this year? Where else was this kid suppose to play? If I choose to send my children to a private high school does that mean we should home school them until that time or can I send them to a public school in the community until th...

Cardinal, you may've misunderstood my comments. The board probably has taken some hits since he's been here because he's not a fluffy feel-good kinda guy and Brainerd was (is) that type of program. It seems as though they've backed him 100% because he's still here and hasn't changed from what I know...

Indian and Mukker, let's keep it simple and non specific on this board. Many like Chevy, some like Ford and others like Dodge. If the new board likes Dodge how will the others who can't keep an open mind be affected and more importantly will the board stay strong or bend when pressure is applied?

Indian, new blood is exactly what i'm talking about. Will new blood endure what many dislike that the current board stood by. Without dragging this on because this is the VFW thread i'll say this, many like how it is and some don't. What direction the new board goes will be interesting to see.

Congrats to Duluth for winning VFW State. Congrats to Brainerd for a solid effort. I was told that even though they lost two they played hard and represented well. On a side note: Could be a big shake-up in Brainerd this summer with many new board members. President, Vice President and some at large...

PL-Patriot, the idea of the co-op is to give your high school program a better chance to succeed whether you like the coach or not. Pequots bantam team has one player from Brainerd, why?, i'm not sure. Champ 97, no, there isn't a co-op within the youth teams as there is at the high school level. PL-...

Indian Head, sorry, couldn't make it to the games. Congrats to the Warriors. I saw the game against St. Cloud at home a while ago and if yesterday was anything like that one then i'm sure it was a fun game to watch. I'm sure they'll represent well in Moorhead. Congrats to all the teams going to State!

First off, we hope the Bemidji player is ok! Secondly, congrats and good luck to Bemidji and Roseau for advancing to state. Last night at ol' timers I was listening to the Brainerd parents talking about the hit on the Bemidji player, they thought it was clean but because it was a "heavy" h...

Otter, I like your optimism however, they lost to Bemidji and on the biggest stage this year they played poorly i'm told. Many people have seen how good this team can be but the question remains, can this be the group that matches the hype we're fed every year? Are we to believe they can change thei...

Elliott, I would have to agree with your picks possibly adding GR to the mix going to state. It'd be great to see our Warriors go but it sounds as though they're not playing very good right now. Anything is possible.

A battle between GR, Bemidji, Roseau is brewing and you can't look past the Spuds.

Probably. Lame as it may be, point is that it was good hockey. EP played well and if they didn't play at least a good game by their standards then nobody will touch them when it counts! Nothing wrong with supporting the Brainerd team, they work hard and are fun to watch.

Ok, let's see if I have it straight now. An UNMOTIVATED EP team (on vacation) decides hey!, let's play a couple of pick up scrimmages as long as we're here. Brainerd (possibly tired off their Saturday a.m. game with FF) say's sure but we call them games (three periods with refs and even keeping scor...

Paz, i'll agree with you on St. Cloud, they seem to match up well with Brainerd for some reason however, I disagree with EP carrying the play both games and the goalie being the difference. Didn't see the first one but when your going into the third up a goal, shots dead even and basically end up lo...

In The Paint, the few times i've heard the coach talk about that team he always metions that there are no superstars and that the team is not afraid of hard work which some would agree is more valuable. Chuck, be kind to Brainerd, they played very well both games this weekend and I'm told the Friday game was no fluke, Sunday EP just burried and Brainerd didn't, still a great game to watch.

Made it back for the Sunday game. 4-3 EP going into the third and Brainerd made a couple of mistakes that EP capitalized on. Brainerd also had a 5-3 pp, a couple odd man rushes and a breakaway that had they scored could have changed the outcome of the game. I personally feel that Brainerds four defe...
