Mayasich will be number one and he deserves it. I think we can agree that each generation or era has it's own version of an even playing field, and nobody has come close to dominating that playing field the way Mayasich did. Would the John Mayasich of 1950 be that good in today's game? Of course not...

I'm going to guess Sargent and Norwich. I'd guessed Yackel without knowing a whole lot about his high school career other than that he'd starred at Humboldt in the late 40's. He was all WCHA at the U and was just the second American NHLer in the '50's. I'd guessed Holmgren because one of my earliest...

guesses
I would guess Hirsch and Clymer won't make it, they were obviously great players, but not as dominant as the last 5-6 def on the list. This may cause a ruckus, but I'm starting to think Pelawa isn't going to make it either. I could certainly be wrong, but I can't see them assigning Big George 171 po...

If it's State Tournament only, Spehar damn well does deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as those guys. I think Martin and Aaron Broten were named for overall body of work-- Neal and Aaron never even won it all. Crowley should have been named-- best player on back-to-back champs. Sort of fitt...

You guys are right on all of this-- although I do like seeing a lot of the old tournament clips-- there is a huge lack of profiles of this year's kids and teams. It's all a product of the tournament going to KSTC. They just don't have the staff or are given the money to hire a staff to do such featu...

Biggest Upsets Ever in MN High School Hockey
Burnsville over AHA certainly joins the argument, congrats to Burnsville. Unfortunately for me, the column I wrote for Minnesota Score magazine's "Tournaments Issue" will no longer run. I thought I'd post it here anyway: "I'm fifteen for a moment... Caught in between ten and twenty An...
