open all the way. Parents should be able to watch their minor children. Coaches and evaluators should be shown a taste of the parent behavior they are getting into. Edina has open tryouts. Kids wear their jerseys from the previous year with their name on the back. Very transparent. And the differenc...

Edina would seem to have a MUCH harder time putting out players that last at all in the NHL. Bo, you listed a link on page 3, printed on page 4, of the 227 MNs to play in NHL. 10 of 227 are listed as Edina. That's 4.4%. Edina population is 48k. MN population is 5.3M. That's .9%. About 1300 k...

Re: Edina hockey
the post regarding why Edina doesn't produce more high-end (D1 and pro) players is also very valid. I don't know the answer other than the fact that hockey is a mentally and physically tough game at the higher levels. Most people who make a living at it either have passion to burn (which may be dif...

Unlike Green is Gold, I won't claim it's the only occurrence in 30 years.

The All Time record is Jensen. Tom Jensen has the single season goal record for the Bears with 40 in the 1994-95 season. He also had 27 assists for 67 points that season. He had roughly 92 points in his three seasons at White Bear. Brian Bonin had roughly 168 points in his three years for the Bears...

Sometimes the regular season counts for something. 1 and 2 seeds are gauranteed to move on to regions. Last night's winners are also guaranteed to move on (I believe D6 is sending 4 to regions this year). That makes for a very tough first game in districts. Win and you are playing a bunch more, lose...

1) Canada players who opt for college hockey tend to not be the cream, so there is less heartache. How many canadian universities send players to the NHL? A player who goes to UMD/UND might be perceived by the public as below grade or too soft for the CHL. Also, there was lots of screaming when Jon...

In the EHA room at Braemar there are a couple of posters from when they hosted the “Bantam National Championships”. I don’t remember the year but I think it was around 2000. I assume this means that Minnesota teams participated back then? Was that before the change to the July 1st cutoff? That was ...

Any thing that harms what we have should be avoided. As I said in a previous post 200 in Midgets 3500 in High School all the rest in some rec program... where's the harm? NFL has roughly half the # of players. Do you think the NFL wouldn't be harmed if their top 100 players left? The replacement pl...

SC-that would be a decent compromise, even better would be the powers that be approved of letting a group of kids that could be let out of association jail to play at the Quebec tourney as pee wee's or other great squirt and bantam tourneys that are known throughout NA. My point is that there are a...

Retrieving the puck, completing a deep zone regroup, breaking out of the zone, attacking through the neutral zone, and offensive forechecking are all skills being developed instead of the game stopping to watch an overweight 55 year old skate to get the puck and drop it for a face off. Why i...

Just from reading these posts it seems to me that the responsibilty now comes down to the local associations or who ever selects what level the teams would skate at. If its now a big jump from AA to that B1 level the local association should be the be the one then to declare AA and A not AA to B1. ...
