Thief will take PR's perfect season away from them tonight..

Post by Schoolyardpuck »

Last year the Prowlers made Lehrke look like just another average player on the ice. Look for them to do the same, and come away with a Big win. Watch Thief use these last couple weeks of regular season to climb there way up to the top 2 or 3 seed.

You're probably right schoolyard.

I suspect the return match with EGF at EGF will determine that.
EGF has a tough stretch of games coming up starting next week including GFRR, Warroad, Crookston, and Moorhead prior to playing TRF again.
Yes, Shanty, I said Crookson.

Looking forward to the matchups.

How often is it that a team sitting at 18-0 may be the underdog? I am pulling for Lehrke and company. It would be really cool to see them pull off the unbeaten regular season.
Even if they go undefeated what will that indicate. They would have only beat 3 teams of significance. And of those three (TRF, EGF and CRX) none were expected to do much this season. Here is the postgame report before it happens:
BOX SCORE
TRF 2 1 2 (5)
PR 1 0 1 (2)

Associated Press Park Rapids, MN:
In a highly anticipated section 8 matchup Thief River Falls was able to frustrate the Park Rapids star Lehrke all night long by pressuring him against the boards and not letting him skate free in the neutral/offensive zone. Thief River falls neutralized his speed and stick handling ability that PR fans have come to expect this season by delivering a superb defensive effort. TRF meanwhile was highlighted by a fantastic performance by their outstanding goaltender Zane Gothberg. After PR jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead the outstanding TRF defense began cracking down and physically dominating a Park Rapids team who lacks the size and depth to compete with the elite of section 8. Thief River was able to quiet the crowd with two quick goals in 8th and 9th minute of the first period. Thief River Falls didn't look back after taking a 2-1 lead into the second period where they added another goal in the second and two in the third. With this win, it propels TRF into contention for the highly coveted #2/3 seed for the section 8a tournament which is hoted by TRF this season. While Park Rapids suffers its first loss of the season they look to quickly rebound as their remaining opponents for the year have a combined record of 5-127. Things certainly look good for them to finish out their season 24-1 and lay claim to the #5 seed.

Well if they couldnt stop Ravndalen...then they might have something coming for em with lehrke....lehrke and ravndalen are both high caliber players...TRF couldnt stop moorhead's #10 all night either.....so on that note....i look forward to the game...

So what exactly did Moorhead's #10 do to Thief River? Scored there one goal of the game? Seem's to me they must have kept pretty good tabs on the whole spud squad..... As I recall TRF left Moorhead's rink with a 3-1 Victory.

It will indicate that nobody beat them,.... right. And they would get the 2 seed, placing them above TRF and EGF where countless people have been saying all winter they have NO place being. Which is down right stupid to say.[/quote]

Reading...what a novel concept, sort-of like making coherent statements on a complex public message board!

You asked- "Even if they go undefeated, what will that indicate?"

And I simply answered your question.

Just how hard is that???

Lord, please let TRF win this game 4-2 so that all the PR babble will stop for awhile. Amen.

You forgot to indicate what your thoughts are? I will forgive you, given your opponent tonight. You are probably more concerned with saving face than TRF v PR.

TRF by 3

First off, Ravndalen is committed to SCSU. I can't recall where Lehrke is going...
Secondly, Warroad is ranked #5 in the state (depending where you look). Where Park Rapids is as high as #19 (Also, depending where you look).
And last off, correct me if I'm wrong but has Park Rapids EVER beaten TRF?

Again, my prediction:

TRF 4
PR 2
