First things first, I'm from Roseau, and I want nothing more than the Warroad girls to come home with the championship trophy. Those girls work hard, and deserve a good tournament appearance.ST wrote:
I happen to have some friends in your Roseau town and if I have my facts straight, I think your town has been the receipient of more then 2 players. South Dakota brought 4 (14u, 12u b, bantam and mite), 12u has one from Crookston, HS has one from Warroad, 14u has one from St. Michael/Albertville, Yon's, Huglens (not sure of their levels), Jacobson on boys side. Do the math, that is at least 10.
Second, if families moving back to their hometown to raise their children are counted as "recruits" then Warroads numbers just shot up even more. Besides, Roseau doesn't need to recruit! Check out the stats of the youth teams, I think they'll be OK for years to come. http://www.roseauyouthhockey.com/

talk about skirting issues. how about a list of all the girls who have moved to town along with a list of where there parents went to work. hard to believe not only are the all about the same age as coaches daughters but there parents work at one of three places in town. coincidence, dont think so. don't skirt the issue and put the list out goal4

The Fact of the matter is that warroad is at the state tourney and roseau is watching. You can complain about recruits and all that stuff but, is against the rules in girls hockey to transfer if the family moves..........no? so everyone quit crying, if you ask me Warroad is just that much smarter that they would actually do that!

The sad part is not everyone realizes some of the parts of this thread.
If you notice no one is clearly stating that Warroad doesn't recruit. Call it whatever you like, if what they were doing was against the MSHSL rules something would have done about it by now.
4 people are arguing the point all are from Warroad.
There are a lot of points of this recruiting thing that are being displayed. 1)You have the win at all costs. 2)You have the naive or don't believe or don't want to believe how much of this goes on. 3)Then you have the parents of a hometown player that is getting the shaft, becuase they have spent all the time and money over the years to watch there kids go to the state tournament and try to get a view of the ice from the bench. 4)And you have the parents that kids are good enough to still get to play and know that rocking the boat could not there kid from getting the ice.
I feel sorry for the posters from Roseau calling these things out that everyone knows at this point in time....it makes them look like sore losers....and in my years around hockey in this area that is not what the great hockey community of Roseau is usually about. Roseau is a very strong hockey community that in a short time will be enjoying the great benefit of building such a strong program.
I wish nothing more than for Warroad to come home with the Championship....and had Roseau won a very good hockey game I would be wishing them the same.

here's how sad it really is. at least two of the mothers will not be there for their kids, they did not move to warroad. actually, one familiy i believe got divorced shortly after dad and daughter arrived in town. hard to believe a state championship is that important to tear families apart for. i guess with a couple more wins, they will find out if it was worth it. and goal4, I didn't think you were man enough to come clean on the jobs thing.

whoa whoa whoa. Don't make it sound like the Warroad girls program caused a family to break up. Do you know what goes in their personal lives? I doubt it. For all you know they could have been cheating on each other or they ocould have found out that they were long lost cousins or something like that. I doubt it's hockey.hometown warrior wrote:here's how sad it really is. at least two of the mothers will not be there for their kids, they did not move to warroad. actually, one familiy i believe got divorced shortly after dad and daughter arrived in town. hard to believe a state championship is that important to tear families apart for. i guess with a couple more wins, they will find out if it was worth it. and goal4, I didn't think you were man enough to come clean on the jobs thing.
Yes, people Roseau was that good. Looking at all the response and interest in this thread Girls hockey has come along way. It's too bad that it took one bad man and dirty money to wreck it for so many and then a group of men not to do anything about it. Just like any sport it takes a while for someone to take a good thing for so many and become greedy.
In our community hockey is a big deal and yes there is even a parade when the winning team comes home. I guess you have to be careful because someone is always watching and wants what they don't have.
Enjoy "The Tourney" everyone!

I don't know who the hell all you people are...but this is the REAL Michelle Johnston, anyone that knows me personally knows me well enough to know that I do not have to hide behind some fake name...so "Hometown Warrior" come clean and tell the people who you really are or at least clear up my name!! If it's on my mind...it's out my mouth, I don't sugar coat anything and am NOT afraid to say it how it is!!!! Yesterday was the first time in my life I have ever gone onto to this stupid website, I have too much going on in my life to waste my time bitchin about hockey...if I have a problem I go to the coach, and I have!!!!!! I have NEVER insulted the "recruits" or thier families...Mrs. Brettigen (I would call you by your first name if I knew it; I think it's Amy?!?!) your search for the hometown warrior saying crap about your family does not end with me becasue I am NOT the howetown warrior and you owe me an apology for your rude behavior at the State Tournament...not the appropiate place for that confrontation!!! I have never said anything negative about the new hockey families...Welcome to Warroad one and all, the only person I feel negativity towards is Izzy and he knows why!! I have told my daughters' friends and teamates as they prepare for a game good luck and good game at the conclusion of their games, I have been cordial to ALL the parents at the arenas and such, and I have been friendly to Izzy's children, so don't go throwing my name to the wolves saying I am bashing the hockey families and not supporting the team, because that's completely inappropriate!!!
Take a close look at what the hometown warrior is saying...Feb 24 'wish we would have moved out of town so my kid could play' I have 2 daughters that play not ONE and Warroad is my home I would NEVER uplift and leave due to a sport that my girls temporarily play....there's way more to life than hockey and I am not going anywhere!!!! Feb. 25 "my own kid won't rat on a buddy" yeah, that totally sounds like something I would say...this hometown warrior is a guy, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out, come clean.....who are you??
As far as the Trading Post buying theirs good at Menards....NO WAY!!!! Everything was purchased from the MHC except the frigde, fryers, grill and other kitchen equipment and the last time I looked MHC does not carry commercial restuarant products!! The lumber, windows, shingles, toungue and groove, sheetrock all of it even the lumber to make the shelving units was all from MHC....you should really get your facts straight before you assume!!!
My life does not revolve around hockey....I couldn't tell you stats from another team, ALL star players from Blake, goalie of the year....does not interest me, I have 2 girls that play and I DO SUPPORT THEM IN ALL THEIR SPORTS but beyond my kids playing the game I could care less about all the politics that go with it!! So keep me and my name out of the bullcrap that tears apart the GOODNESS OF THE GAME!!! I love hockey, just hate the crap that goes with it!!!!
WAY TO GO TO ALL THE LADY WARRIORS!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Michelle Johnston

This thread really is the greatest. It's embarassing how we've been wasting our time on the Boys side when all the action was over here.
I've got a suggestion for the off-season. Ya gotta find a copy of a DVD called The Tournament. I recommend the 2 disc set. The coolest thing is the main team is actually called the Warriors. The Tournament is a mockumentary out of Canada. GREAT STUFF !
