Well, my opinion happens to be just that, my opinion. You obviously feel that the Edina-Duluth East game was better, and you're entitled to that. As far as the refs go, I think it was pretty evenly officiated, even though refs didn't call an obvious penalty shot which went in favor of Hermantown. They put their whistles away in the third almost completely. Hermantown was 0-3 or 0-4 on the PP for the game, one of those PP's coming in OT.PoniesDad45 wrote:No. Edina-Duluth East was much better. These refs were favoring STA.deacon wrote:Best game I've seen in a long, long time.

Obvious penalty shot? I don't think so, the kid covered the puck. They should have blown the whistle long before he touched the puck with his hand and I'm sure that is what the determined.deacon wrote:Well, my opinion happens to be just that, my opinion. Let's talk about the 3 blatant tripping calls they didn't call. Ridiculous.
Oh, and the loose puck in front of the STA goalie and then the whistle.
STA stole another small school trophy. I hope they enjoy it.
Is that the honor they want to teach to their "Cadets"?
And Hermantown had plenty of chances to put it away....I was screaming, "shoot the puck!!!" "Go to the net!!!"...... St. Thomas won. It's done.deacon wrote:Well, my opinion happens to be just that, my opinion. You obviously feel that the Edina-Duluth East game was better, and you're entitled to that. I could cherry pick calls that didn't go STA's way also, good job.PoniesDad45 wrote:Obvious penalty shot? I don't think so, the kid covered the puck. STA - Hermantown
It figures a Stillwater guy would watch a game as great as that one and then post a message bitching about the refs.PoniesDad45 wrote:No. Edina-Duluth East was much better. These refs were favoring STA.deacon wrote:Best game I've seen in a long, long time.

No one outside of the St.Thomas section stayed around to see any of the presentation. Good way to prove the public opinion of the Cadets in class A. Sounded like a trophy presentation at a squirt tournament. Good job St. Thomas. You should be proud! Since 1999, a private school has won this tournament 9 years, with the only non private winners being Warroad X2 and Hermantown. Enough is enough. The MSHSL did not go to 2 classes so St Thomas and Breck could fill their trophy shelves. Schools like Hibbing, Thief. Hermantown, Little Falls, Alexandria, Warroad, Virginia, Mahtomedi, Orono, New Prague, Red Wing, New Ulm and any other enrollment challenged school deserve to play against each other to see who is the best small school hockey team. They shouldn't have to play an all-metro team to bring home a championship. Give the privates 3 options. 1. Play in a small private school state tournament. 2. Man up and play AA. 3. Really man up and play with Shattuck nationally.
It is really too bad because before 1999, the class A tourney was producing champions like Red Wing, Int Falls, Eveleth and Warroad. I miss those days. Please do something MSHSL.

Be careful what you wish for. The last thing MN HS hockey needs is for a bunch of private schools outside of the MSHSL. They could recruit openly, have hockey scholarships and play 50+ game seasons. Then all the really talented HS players would be "leaving" public schools. It's already watered down with the kids going to the USHL & NAHL. You would be left with a B level public school tournament. I guess that would be probably be OK with the Stillwater folks. Maybe they could then make an appearance.curtiscurve wrote:3. Really man up and play with Shattuck nationally... how dare you bring up such accusations! never! its a small town, arent they hurt enough! leave hermantown alone!quickgym guy wrote:What about Hermantown opting up... They seem to make it every year. And I know for a fact their top player Skerbik(sp) lives in the Proctor school district. So the privates aren't the only ones recruiting...

Thats recruiting? Worry about your Cloquet hockey program instead of trying to degrade another one over nothing.
