Hype/Reputation is rather meaningless to any of it. Very subjective. It's performance based and projection to the people that work in the game. Not hype.
I don't know that I see much of a difference with some of that anyway. For instance, do you think a kid like Bellows has received any less hype than those SSM kids? He has received as much of that as any of them.
Question about Shattuck...

Seriously?...Froggy Richards wrote:Well, they certainly should. They recruit some of the best players from all over the country. MN High School teams are made up of one community. The fact that this is even a debate shows how good MN High School Hockey is. Take the top 20 players in MN and they would be the ones winning 95% of the time.Slap Shot wrote:So is Edina the only one of the two allowed to add commitments to the current list? The Exiled One wrote: I knew how many kids from each school were committed when I made my claim. SSM would outclass every MN team talent wise for a 7 game series 95% of the time. Since even the CCCP in their heyday had an occasional loss SSM losing a few to MNHS teams doesn't invalidate that fact. (and no that is not a direct comparison)

You have to live in the school district to play Varsity Sports or else open enroll prior to 9th grade. Thought that was common knowledge.fastncrash wrote:Seriously?...Froggy Richards wrote:Well, they certainly should. They recruit some of the best players from all over the country. Exception: private schools.Froggy Richards wrote:You have to live in the school district to play Varsity Sports....
Exceptions apply here as well, including hardship cases, parents move and those who serve the penalty by playing JV for a year.Froggy Richards wrote:....or else open enroll prior to 9th grade.

My Comment was addressing the Edina vs. Shattuck debate. Edina is a Public School.

I could be wrong, but I believe Hardship cases are when you go to a Private and have to return to the school district that you live in. I don't think you can claim hardship when you're living in Minneapolis, attending a Private, and then choose to go to Edina and play Hockey. If the parents move there, then the kid lives in the school district. Not sure how many kids on Edina's roster last year open enrolled there in prior years and played a year of JV? Maybe someone familiar with the roster can chime in.
