I'm still running on fumes from Cubs-Phillies yesterday at Wrigley. 15 Old Style's(Wrigley needs a new beer sponsor) and numerous attempts of 3 bachelors chasing down girls running around in skirts was enough to staple me to the couch for most of today. Good to see the Sox get shut down by Cliff Lee - what a difference a year makes, I believe he got sent down to the Minors last year at one point.
For those who haven't been to Wrigley - I can only suggest not to miss out on it. It's a special place to watch a game(we sat 13 rows behind the Phillies dugout).

Through 137 games it is All Square between the contenders.
Twins 77-60
Sox 77-60
Indians 66-70
Tigers 66-71
Royals 57-79
Ya know, the only thing these two teams have in common is a record.
Payroll: Sox ($121 million), Twins ($57 million)
HR's: Sox (199), Twins (99)
If the Twins can somehow win this division this year, Sox management will need to be put on a suicide watch. The Sox have exceeded even their wildest dreams at the plate this year with the aging vets Dye and Thome, they stumbled on 51 HR's and 160 RBI's from a D-Back reject and a skinny Cuban middle infielder, they've devoted $14 million to one starter, $11.5 million to another, $10 million to a third, and they've gotten 15 wins from a guy who had only 8 wins between '04-'07 and they still can't shake the Twins.

57 million for the Twins. Tampa 45 million.
Good young (a/k/a cheap) players is the key.
The CWS and the Twins has been a great rivalry and contrast in style for years now.
The Twins usually have come out on top.
The Twins usually have had a bullet proof bullpen.
This year.....not so much.
Can't play small ball with a leaky bullpen. It doesnt work.
25 games to go and its ALL SQUARE.
Is either team ready to go on a tear?
The Twins can if the bullpen gets righted.
Other wise, its gonna go down to the wire just like '06.

Right you are, PB. Both the Twins and Phillies are having rough times with late innings catastrophe's by the bullpen when it matters the most. Time to seperate the men from the boys...packerboy wrote:

For a split second, I felt kind of bad for Jason Pridie when he booted that routine single in the 9th... and then that feeling changed to all out anger. How in the world can you do something so stupid?! Pick up the ball, get it back into the infield and you're still up a run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th! I know they hit singles in Rochester, he should know how to handle them.
With the way the bullpen & defense has played, it's nothing short of a miracle that they're still only 1 game back. They've blown chance after chance after chance.

What time do the Gophers start so I can get pissed at them instead?!![]()

Too bad again, we were looking good again for 6-7 innings...
Do the Gophers have a shot tonight? I hate to say it, but they may get blown out by Bowling Green!
Twins need to do some offseason moves that mean something this winter!
I seriously doubt that they have as shot. BG beat a top 25 team on the road last week, now they get a 1-11 team at home. I have a hunch that the Gophers will make the Twins bullpen look a lot better.DmanDad1980 wrote: Do the Gophers have a shot tonight? I hate to say it, but they may get blown out by Bowling Green!

Is there nobody at AAA that can give us a glimer of hope? Or at least one good inning a week? I think we need that more than Piride.schwang17 wrote:Scott Baker is 8-4 in 25 starts. He has more no-decisions than decisions. That's all that needs to be said about our bullpen.

I just plugged into the Twins contest knowing that the first two hours of the game really doesn't mean much anymore. What do I discover? A two run lead. Then in a matter of 3 minutes the Tigers collect 9 bases and knot the score.
The lighting quick ability to change games is a tremendous weapon and I'm saddened that we haven't had it, don't have it, and never will have it.
