If Tier I would be in Mn the governing body would be Mn Hockey. USA Hockey is the appeals process. In the case on National tournaments all disputes and hearings are handled on the spot.
If you think all of the affiliates that have Tier I are happy, you might want to go to the USA Hockey web site and find the minutes for the affiliate presidents meeting, and when the minutes are posted from the winter meeting I would suggest you also read them. To further add to Elliott's statements there are a number iof states that is given the chance would follow the standard of Minnesota Hockey and not have Tier I teams. All is not well under the hood.
By adding Tier1 hockey you would still have community hockey, nothing would change for 99% of MN players, it would just be an option for some of the players. I have a dispute, why does a Mn hockey player have to go to a neighboring state to play at a level that is availble in 49 other states.

AAA offered on VERY LIMITED and Minnesota Hockey controlled basis is the only possible add on. Full blown AAA and the cost and results will demise what Minnesota has by way of youth hockey.

If there was a 3-4 team authorization, with teams fielded at ONLY
the Pee Wee Major and Bantam Major year groups...we would be talking about 136 or so kids out of upteen thousand.

If these 4 teams were able to become a western portion of the Chicago/Detroit based league with an adjusted schedule featured with festival weekends to Chicago to play multiple teams and Detroit in the same fashion with vice versa scheduling, it would be doable

These teams would be very competetive and top ranked teams nationally, have very little effect on the current Minnesota system. Would return players in time and hopefully well trained to their local high schools, not allow costs to get blown out the door by being closely monitored by a yet to be created but needed AAA director and his/her staff, have players returned to their association in non-major years for local play and development, create in season tournament play locally that would attract players and teams from around the country, etc..(out of ideas, but this was a swing)

Bash away...

And Cowbell.

MN Hockey is looking at these type of possibilities.
We may not move as fast as some would desire, but we error on rashiness on the side of the tortoise. :D

Anything you wish to add to our discussions, I will surely present.
I guess polls are worthless on this site. I just wish more would want AAA or birth years in the winter. Why is Minnesota the only state in the Nation that does not use birth years? I heard that is why North and South Dakota pulled out of the Minnkota District last year. What is the average age of the Minnesota Hockey board? I would guess 65. Hopefully some young blood will get involved soon and help make this state great again!!!
make this state great again? we are the state of hockey and in order to make ourselves better we need to follow what other states do. doesn't make sense to me. Also It wouldn't be fair because when you get into high school you would play at a different level, and people who played a could not make it because they are on the older side of their grade.

I am amazed Elliot has the patience to discuss this topic with some of you numbskulls. Ever consider cost? How do you folks expect to run 3 or 4 kids around the country with your triple A schedule? You can no longer get a second mortgage to finance the hockey, those days are over. Like it was stated so well in another thread some of you folks have more money (dwindling capital) than brains and common sense has long left your cerebral cortex when it comes to youth sports. Better check your sotck portfolio instead.

is lost in the woods should decide for me that this is not the best thing to
do. You and Ted Kazynski and greybeard can start up a 3 on 3 league up
in the woods and live happily together forever and I am fine with that. But
to rip Elliott for having patience shows you are far removed from what is a
great oppurtunity for some young hockey players to participate in the great game of hockey at a high level of competition and Tier 1 is what it
called. It is 2008 now and I do not know if you have a calendar in the woods but the times are a changing and associations some not all are not
the best avenues for the development of hockey for certain individuals. [-o<
