5 to 2 is a far cry from the 15 to 1 beating Warroad gave Roseau a few years ago.OGEE OGELTHORPE wrote:Puckguy- they like to tell everybody that they are class A so when they win the state tournament they can tell every one on the board that they could of beat the AA schools too.
No doubt Roso has a great team this year, they may go undefeated.
We will see if Warroad's blue line people can get with the program in a couple weeks.
If they get by the Warriors again, they have a good chance of going undefeated.

Git-r-done Idoubt you even watched the game, if it wasn't for the outstanding play of the blue line it could of been 15-1.Git-R-Done wrote:5 to 2 is a far cry from the 15 to 1 beating Warroad gave Roseau a few years ago.OGEE OGELTHORPE wrote:Puckguy- they like to tell everybody that they are class A so when they win the state tournament they can tell every one on the board that they could of beat the AA schools too.

No, I was including all defense, although, Ramboy, you could use some tips from Billy Mac.rams80 wrote:Git-R-Done wrote:What?Puckguy19 wrote: A sad day to see Warroad fans terming themselves as a Class A team. Certainly not the proud tradition of years past!

I find it funny that somebody complains how assists have been dealt out over many decades.

Actually I was more pointing out the fact that calling assists is moreso by discression and up to officials opinion, and not based on "last two that touch the puck" or "unique" players. About 3 minutes of googling rebutted that.
A better excessive example would have been one guy leads out, then 2 guys pass the puck back and fourth about a dozen times, then one of them scores. Your excessive example didn't even fit the rule condition, that 2 assists are handed out. And personally, I could care less about if anyone deserved an assist or not, or if phantom assists are called. What's called is called, so be it. Move on.
Ness played extremely well, and for 2 periods, Roseau took it to the Warriors as a whole. Both a let down followed by a definite pickup in play led to late Warrior goals. I actually found it slightly concerning if I was a Roseau fan that their coach tells the kids to finish delivering the message, yet they came out flat. Obvioulsy what else is a coach to say, but the kids didn't respond for some reason. I'm sure that was addressed after the game.
And I got texted by Hahn about a half-hour after the game ended!

Then explain how any time there are two assists given out on a play, it happens to come from the last two players that touched the puck prior to the goal scorer. Yes, there are exceptions such as unassisted goals or if only one offensive player touches the puck after getting it from an opponent and feeds a guy for a goal and gets the loan assist. But in plays where two assists are given out, they are given to the last two offensive players to touch the puck besides the goal scorer (which is what I meant by "unique" players).slashman42 wrote:Actually I was more pointing out the fact that calling assists is moreso by discression and up to officials opinion, and not based on "last two that touch the puck" or "unique" players. The rule book explanation you used is vague but I have been around hockey 30+ years and assists have always been given out in that fashion by game scorers in NHL games.

I agree it was a fun game to watch at the end. for a moment there it looked like Warroad was going to make a comeback, but Roseau is just too good for that to happen!! good game by both squads.CHICKA CHICKA WHAT wrote:Awesome game.. i thought warroad was making a strong effort at the end but not enough to get by the dominant roseau

In general that's correct and that seems to be the way it's called. But there seems to be no set-in-stone method to determine assists either. The earlier questioning on Ness's 1st assist was because of the intermediate passing between two players. I'd guess that if there was more passing between the 2 before the goal, Ness may not have gotten the assist because of the amount of play that followed his initial breakout pass. I've seen enough non-assist calls as well that support that. But his pass was key to the breakout, and thus the assist called IMO. And agreed that the rulebook definition is vague - blame the NHL for that.Gopher Blog wrote:Then explain how any time there are two assists given out on a play, it happens to come from the last two players that touched the puck prior to the goal scorer. Wrong, the play of the goalie was the key.OGEE OGELTHORPE wrote:Git-r-done Idoubt you even watched the game, if it wasn't for the outstanding play of the blue line it could of been 15-1.Git-R-Done wrote:5 to 2 is a far cry from the 15 to 1 beating Warroad gave Roseau a few years ago.OGEE OGELTHORPE wrote:Puckguy- they like to tell everybody that they are class A so when they win the state tournament they can tell every one on the board that they could of beat the AA schools too.

They play basketball in Roseau?
They never played very well when we put the beat down on them...but I do remember them having a white Jordan dominating for them. Also enjoyed taking there cheerleaders out back behind the woodshed.
