Sometimes it is necessary for the student section to stand. This hasn't happened for hill yet this year, but I'm sure that on Tuesday WBL had so many students that they had one row standing on the floor and another row standing on the seats behind them. That way there is only one section taken up by standing students and not two.

Student sections don't stand because they want to obstruct the view of others or becaus they think it's funny when others can't see. They stand because it makes the game much more fun to watch for the students and much more intense for the players. Students want to stand as much as parents want to sit, so how bout a little consideration for them as well?wogggieee wrote:komada77 wrote:Agreed. Or just stop being so lazy and stand up yourself. I never understand why parents think they own the stands but they never actually cheer? And without students at games how lame would the atmosphere be?SECHockeyFan wrote: Than don't sit behind the students next time, idiot.
1. There is not always an open seat away from the student section. I try to avoid them like the plague if i can, but it is not always possible. And when that its the case I'd like to be able to see the game. Are arenas just supposed to loose an entire seating section because the students don't have the consideration and courtesy to sit down so others can see. Whatever happened to having consideration for those around you? it doesn't say much for a student section when they take pride in deliberately obstructing the views of others and preventing them from enjoying the game as well.
2. I'm not too lazy to stand. I am not physically able to stand for 51 minutes of hockey. I was barely able to make it into the coliseum from the car and to my seat. And even if i were able to stand, i wouldn't have a desire to. There is absolutely no reason to stand for the ENTIRE game. If something exciting happens, sure, i don't have a problem with that. But just during normal play it is completely unnecessary.
Everyone hates private schools (and Edina)!!
what are some of their original cheers?luckyfan7 wrote:yea burnsville does have some pretty sick fans no lie. they also have there own original cheers too. it doesnt mean much when you have two teams's fans at a rink saying the same cheers just changing the names. so expect the burnsville edina game to be loud as hell

Sounds like a real prick.Cyclone711 wrote:Burnsville fans only got kicked out of their section at their home rink and aren't allowed to do many chants anymore (thanks Edina game?). Also they have people stationed around us and if they hear one cuss word we get kicked out. Just another day of the man trying to hold you down. All this was done by our new AD btw.

The difference is that by my sitting i am not obstructing the view of others. or if i am it is minimal and i try to avoid that as much as possible by taking off my hat or whatever else. By your standing to enjoy the game is making it such that others cannot enjoy the game. Games can still be enjoyed just as well sitting as they can standing. I thoroughly enjoyed the WBL v roseville game Tuesday night and didn't get up from my seat from the drop of the first puck to the final buzzer and i didn't block any ones view and prevent them from enjoying the game. Student sections were enjoying hockey games, chanting, and supporting their teams while sitting long before it became the cool thing to stand for the entire game. If you were supposed to stand for the entire game they wouldn't sell seats. if you want to stand, do it where you dont block peopls view like along the top.komada77 wrote:

Why do you think student sections are always near the goaline and not in the middle of the ice. Get there earlier if you want a better seat cause i don't know of one student section in state that would sit for a section championship. Let me know if you find one so we can doushe them.wogggieee wrote:The difference is that by my sitting i am not obstructing the view of others. or if i am it is minimal and i try to avoid that as much as possible by taking off my hat or whatever else. If Mounds View ever made it to a section championship, they would sit no doubt. They sat for a while during the game against Hill.whitebearsuperfanB wrote:Why do you think student sections are always near the goaline and not in the middle of the ice. wogggieee: go and drink your coffee somewhere else old man, this thread is no place for you if all you are going to do is complain.
This thread is all about how sweet student sections are, and who has the best one. NOT about some guy complaining about how he cant see one end of the ice because those "darn new fangled kids with their gosh darn cordless telephone devices and their crazy cheers and jeers that stand up all game" get in your way.
Now, I think this thread is useless without pics or videos of some kind!

Did you go to a Moorhead game this year? They're student sections sucked with the exception of the Roseau game...TooManyEagles wrote:I was pretty impressed by the RoMont fans at the Valley/Irish game. Really came out (Even though its just a quick trip up highway 3).
Rapids/East/Moorhead are pretty good as well.
Benilde's section was extremely loud last night at Mariucci... but Burnsville wins this hands down; Best student section in the state
I was at the HIB vs IF game @ the IRC last week, and the IF did not come close to matching HIB. Based on what I read here, I was expecting something more than a waving flag after a Bronco goal. And that happend once.pacman wrote:The Hibbing Student Section this season, especially in the I Falls playoff game.
As far as the individual complaining about the standing student section, I understand if you have limitations on being able to stand during a game. I would suggest you arrive a bit earlier to get a seat in a different section where this would not be an issue for you. Let the kids be kids.
It is what it is!
and the Burnsville band playing the Hamm's beer theme song. There was much more school spirit in the 80's. There was much more pagentry and tradition for all sports. WBL was a basketball school back then, and they brought the largest and loudest crowds that I've seen a school bring to the civic center.thecoachsdaughter wrote:Well back in the day, Edina would read the paper when the other team's starting line up was being announced. I also like Hill Murray and Duluth East. My most favorite tho was Grand Rapids. I don't recall the year, I think that is was in the late 80s, but the cheerleaders had HUGEST pom poms, the band would do the "Tomahawk Chop" and they had the coolest mascot with the big headress and the leather pants with fringe. They filled the whole side of the Civic Center.
moorhead was lame when we were there. They had maybe 30 people. Plus a game on FSN, i expected the town to show up, the stands werent even half fullnatedog228 wrote:Did you go to a Moorhead game this year?
