It's early yet, but it's interesting to see teams with poor win-loss records giving ranked teams more than they can handle.

I think silver Bay will start creeping in the A polls soon. They tied Duluth and beat Cloquet last week.

Just to set the record straight: WBL's loss to GRG was also an OT loss.

Great corrected three 1 goal losses to 3 top teams....WBL should be ranked higher and is a dangerous team for any to face.....watch out Stillwater next Tuesday. Who was hurt and is out for WBL Lowell?

1AA...
There are some good teams in 1AA, but NWC & Bemidji may be more deserving at this time to be in the Top 20, but by year end there may be some noise from 1AA... Here are the 1AA teams and their current records:

Section 1AA Standings

Rochester Mayo 7-2 (Won Last 5)
Owatonna 6-2 (Won Last 5)
Lakeville South 7-3 (Won Last 4)
Lakeville North 7-3 (Won Last 4)
Dodge County 4-3 (Won 1)
Farmington 5-4-1
Rochester John Marshall 2-7 (Won 1)
Winona 1-4 (Lost Last 3)
Rochester Century 1-7 (Lost Last 6)

A
1 BLAKE
2 Warroad
3 Roseau
4 Breck
5 Silver Bay Record 7-1-1
6 Crookston/Red Lake
7 Mankato West
8 Mound Westonka
9 South St. Paul
10 Northfield

This is an accurate placement #5 for Silver Bay. A tough SOS and (3)AA wins and a tie. Wins over Cloquet,Shakopee,Superior and tie with Duluth. Not many ranked "A" teams that have played (4) AA schools without a loss

Yes, Crysta Lowell is out with a knee injury she received in the Blaine game. I understand she had surgery yesterday and will be out for the season. It will be a big loss as she is a physical presence on the ice, handles the puck very well, and has a nice shot. My best wishes to Crysta for a speedy and complete recovery.

At this point, I see some impressive records, but looking at the scores on MGHCA, I don't see many quality wins. Typically in order to get ranked teams need to play and beat ranked teams. I don't see many/if any wins over top 10 A/or top 20 AA teams.

Bemidji has wins over ranked teams as well as playing tight battles in both of their losses against (Warroad 3-2 L)and Roseau (5-3 L)but still aren't ranked. I think game misconduct got it right. Let's Play "Metro" Hockey.

Wow, never would have thought of that... #-o

Mayo: Wins - #19AA Wayzata, #7A Mankato West, and Section 1AA rival Lakeville North 5-0; not great but respectable :D

Right now, many ranked teams do not have impressive wins. For whatever reason, the LPH pollsters have been slow to drop undeserving teams and recognize new teams.

If my quick look is correct:

White Bear Lake (11) has beaten two teams with winning records. Moundsview (6-4-1) and NSP (6-4-1).

Cloquet (16) has beaten two teams with winning records. North Metro (5-4-2) and Cambridge (5-4-1).

Holy Angels (17) has beaten one AA team with a winning record. North Metro (5-4-2).

Wayzata (19) has beaten one team with a winning record. Sibley (6-4).

Andover (20) has not beaten any team with a winning record.

Bemidji, North Wright County, Mayo, Lakeville North and Lakeville South all deserve some consideration.

Strength of Schedule SOS is important... Of the ranked teams with few wins vs teams with winning records - we should look at the SOS of their opponents (with losing records) as well...

If you play the top 10 of 130 teams in the state and you are 4-6-0 should you be ranked in the top 10? Or, more importantly here, a team that beats you be ranked in the top 10?

We'll see if it matters to the pollsters. Good luck!

Who else is in the tourney?
