M-TownSiv, seeded teams #1 through#6 have first round byes. #7 plays #10, & #8 plays #9 first round. Click on the attached link to the MSHSL website http://www.mshsl.org/mshsl/activitypage.asp?actnum=410. Near the top of the page, click on the Activities drop down and find boys hockey. Scroll down on the right side to Section Brackets, find Section 3A and on the right side, click on the B to view the Section 3A bracket. Come tournament time this is a nice resource to stay updated.

Redwood is making some noise in the section! but they really don't play anybody, they don't play Hutch, Litch, or New Ulm. the best team they have played is Henry Sibley. I haven't seen them play this year. can someone please give me the story on them, are they that good ?

I agree how good are they really? They still have to be in the top four in the sec. Do they play anyone down the road? Maybe next year they will get the chance to play some of the better teams.

I agree that Redwood is in the mix. They have a few players that can skate. Their weak scedule doesn't prove much for them. It will not help them if they get to the section semi's.

Looks like Hutch is having trouble scoring. Only mustered 15 shots on New Praque.

New Prague tied Northfield as well last week. They'll give New Ulm all they can handle. Scrapy, hustling team with solid goal tending.

New Ulm over Northfield 4 - 1 total shots were close was goaltending the difference? Is NU #1 now I had them at 2 but they are changing my mind.

As of right now i have things as...

1. New Ulm- lots of wins as of late, impressive one over north field, also pretty solid goaltending

2. Hutch- great goaltending, it can win ya any game

3. Redwood- not many losses, obviously because of schedule strength but still gotta give em some credit

4. Litch- shaky goaltending from what i've seen, cant win anything without at least a decent one

5. Marshall- very very inconsistent, we'll see just how good they are when new ulm comes to town this thursday

any other team in the section besides maybe windom doesn't really need to be mentioned

So heres my question, whose better Burgau for NU or Swenson from Hutch? and whose the best player between these two teams? because the rest of the section doesnt really matter that much

goalieguy I think youve got it right. Redwood is moving up the ranks, and Marshall is as of now moving down. If Marshall can beat NU on Thurs they will move back up, but the way NU is playing they will be tough to beat.

Marshall has a shot at redemtion with a back to back against New Ulm and Hutch. That will settle it. We'll see what they got when it counts.

We'll see if New Ulm can take care of business against Marshall. After that, they only have one true test left in the Lordes game, maybe Minnehaha, if they show up, but the Eagles should win that one.

Litchfield has several tuff games remaining. If they can win a few, look out. They have fun playing together.

Hutch is capable of winning the next four games, including Marshall and a re-match with Northfield that will be a good gage for section rankings. If they can go 4 - 0, it's a toss up for #1 seed in my book.

Micdangles...I like Swenson. He was stellar last season when it counted in sections and state. Also, Hutch is loaded with seniors on the top two lines that all played last year during the state run.

it's kinda a toss up between the goalies, and hutch has a couple talented seniors that u could argue for,
but new ulm has one senior and a very very solid junior class full of kids that u also could argue for

1. New Ulm- good depth, hot as of lately, and good goaltending

2. Hutch- good first line, a couple good D, and great goaltending

3. Litch- solid teams overal, had some nice wins as of late, just goaltending?

4. Redwood- doesn't play many good teams, whooped up on marshall, good first line, a D, and a decent goalie

5. Marshall- decent scrappy team overall, inconsistent, need to find a goalie, and get back to the basics

After that it doesn't really matter. Other notes- New Ulm gets a redemption game next week. New Ulms hot as late and if Marshall can pull together and win that will be huge.

The goalie that gets them furthest in the section playoffs is the better one. Because I think both teams are pretty even so it comes down to the goalies. Now the best player? Well I think that Zach Fisher is a BIG factor for New Ulm, he crushes players . But I still think its between Juntunen N.U. and Hantge Hutch. Hantge with the edge, he has better stats.

but i'm pretty sure juntunen miseed a bunch of games towards the beggining of the year, so stats don't mean everything
and i agree about fisher, he's not the most talented player in the section, but he's up there for most important players to their teams sucess

I stand corrected on games remaining for NU.

Looks like they still have a make-up game vs. LDC scheduled for 2/15, in Litchfield. That should be a great one.

They also have a scheduled game with Shattuck-St. Marys Midget AA team on 2/16, in New Ulm, which is their Junoir Gold level squad.

The Winona game has been cancelled.
