Tonka's goalies was letting some big rebounds that EP didn't get any chances to score upon. EP has a number of juniors playing and their senior players just didn't step up and score. Unlike last year, EP had a 1st line that didn't give up goals against other 1st line teams and rolled Rau, Rogge and Wolf against other 2nd lines and scored goals. Tonka played this same method having the Max G. against EP's second line. I think EP's 2nd line gave at least four goals. Tonka is graduating four D1 players. Look for EP next year as I think the Lake and Section 6 will be down, except for Wayzata.

Correction Lake - The above was the match up only for the first period. The Gardiner-Frawley-Coatta line was too dominant and scored a goal in the first period. As a result coach Lee Smith matched Rau-Rogge's line against Gardiner's line in the second and third. This didn't work either and actually backfired since Gardiner's line continued to dominate and scored two goals in third and worse, it freed up Tonka's second line with Schutt-Lundquist-Thornberg who then scored two goals.
Now you got the facts... You may want to try watching the game on the internet... like I do...
After watching STA (who I think has some of the best forwards in the state... no homie comment intended... )play Tonka twice earlier in the year, my homies and I know all too well that the Tonka forwards are very deep and that there are probably more than 4 future D1 kids on that team....

Edina and Tonka graduated several Div I players last year and both are at state this year. And I don't know about Edina, but Tonka returns Frawley, Coatta, Schutt (3 of their top 4 scorers), Ryan, Baskin, Rothstein, M Prochno, Helmer and Glockner among others.

I gurantee at least one of these guys you mentioned here will be a "future" D1 player Tonka's program is not going to be "down" anytime soon
I agree that tonka will be good again, replacing those defensemen won't be easy though...its much easier to score goals when you get to play most of the game in the other teams end. Tonkas forwards next year will be as good as anyones.
