Section 5A Semis
Monticello 4
Little Falls 3
Final

Moose pull off a shocker despite being outshot 40-19.... SCC will be the HEAVY favorite in Section 5A
Monticello goalie played well, but it felt like LF's lack of depth was also a big factor, their big line was on the ice about half the game and looked tired at the end.
It's hard to win when you always lose.

Feel bad for Roseau. I think this year was the last year anyone without a nickname of “Spuds” had a chance to make it to state out of 8AA for the foreseeable future. Moorhead will dominate section for next 10 years at least. No northwestern MN youth program—or STMA or Elk River—is even in the same stratosphere as Moorhead’s youth program right now.

Also, nice to see that someone new—Prior Lake or Chaska—will be making a first trip to tourney. Both teams, but especially Prior Lake, has lots of preseason hype, but then had rough regular seasons. In the end, I think if there is any team out of this section that can compete in quarterfinals at state, it’s probably Prior Lake, as they have the top end talent. But I think Chaska, too, might have more top end talent than Tonka or EP had. Probably best two teams in end have made section final. Will be nice to see someone new at state.

Great job Elks!!! One northern team down one to go!!! It would be the best state tournament ever if no northern teams make it!!! Man the whining from 218 would be legendary!!! 😉
State tournament might just be the biggest D-BAG gathering of all time. with East side Pioneer Princess leading the charge :P :P :P
Please, calm down.

Seriously, you think it's OK to call me a girl, in 2022? Dude, I've fathered enough kids I can't fit them all in one minivan, so if you want to call me a girl, it says a lot more about you than it does about me. But I'd ask you to show more respect for women in general.

Surprised I haven't seen a post about Edina-Wayzata yet. A phenomenal high school hockey game. Tight-checking, but plenty of scoring chances. Physical, but not dirty. Outstanding goaltending. There were many embraces between Hornets and Trojans after the game. A ton of respect shown between two well-coached teams.

Orono's Brock Peyton the story stops 66 of 68 shots and losses been the story all year for Orono no offense beyond Walker.

Albert Lea holds on 4-3. After a crazy first period things settled down a lot. Albert Lea had to play their backup goalie this week due to injury. The kid did a heck of a job.

Northfield kind of melted down late to lose to New Prague. The final should be a good game.

Overall I think people have grown tired of the Lake Conference teams with their Mega Youth Organizations dominating the AA field. Count me in if Benilde can beat Edina not a huge private fan but it would be awesome not to see EP, Wayzata, Edina, Tonka just for a change of pace.

Prior Lake and Chaksa and Chan Demographics wise appear to be taking over 2AA Tonka wont be going away but EP is on the downslide will be a Jefferson in another decade. Great to see new Blood

Would be good too see Rogers cash in also had great youth teams the last 4-5 years so everyone who knows youth hockey saw this coming and they are not going away another top 10 AA Bantam group in the pipeline and their core is Juniors.

Maple Grove may be just tired though of not cashing in on youth hockey success and looked like dangerous tonight.

1AA Lakeville South
2AA Prior Lake
3AA CDH
4AA HM
5AA MG
6AA BSM
7AA GR
8AA Moorhead

Should be a good field obviously will be wrong a few picks but if CDH is the #1 seed I see them losing in the first round they play so shaky and will be feeling the weight of a #1 seed at the X after never being their reminds be of Andover a few years ago when they chocked against STA.

Class A is now messy as some of the top seeds that could have made Wednesday are gone

New A field
1A New Prague (wow 12-15-2 Trojans with losses to teams like Waconia and New Ulm... Yuck)

2A Delano will be a top 3 seed and the thre un seeded are way down they have to break the curse right?

3A Mankato East playing a tougher schedule will prove to be the key New Ulm shoudl have lost to Windom today

4A Mahtomedi Ben Dardis is a scary 4 seed on Friday Afternoon vs. the Hawks could be fun if they win the 4/5 game vs the 6A winner

5A SCC Welcome back to the Tourny Crusaders after last years tanking out they arrive a year early at state will dominate this section for years to come now.

6A Fergus Falls Otters cant lose to Alex 3 times in one year right?

7A Hermantown they will beat New Prague by 15 in the first round

8A Warroad The only hope to keep the hawks from a title for one more year in class A

According to ALHS, the 1A game is now at 7 on Wednesday, instead of 5:30.

I know, right? Those poor, down trodden kids of Wayzata. Some of those kids have to drive 2019's to school, up hill both ways.

Actually, no. That sort of hoity-toity behavior is reserved only for SOME that enthusiastically trudge up the Hill of Hill Murray to bow before the great ESPG!

Good to see this thread getting lively yesterday, and a pleasure to meet raidergrad at Amsoil last night. (That was certainly more entertaining than the games were!)
