I visited the MINNHOCK message board and a Jeff Foxworthy concert broke out...falcons89 wrote:Top 5 reasons why RSI and I are not brothers..........jetjock wrote: But then again, he finds Falcons89 and RSI very humorous. No, it is orange with green stripes, silly...Bensonmum wrote:After following the somewhat tense and volatile discussions on some of the other threads about NDP this and Mankato that, it's nice to check into the 1A thread and see that all is still right with the world.

Predictions on todays game? Do you have a goalie?
My prediction 4-0. I am always wrong so it will probabaly be 11-0.

I couldn't make it to the game, I was watching NASCAR.Twinnesota wrote:Were you there this time?RSI wrote:I predict the Panthers will win.I'll say 7-2.

AL held them to a touchdown and scored twice. Something no other team has been able to do to the Panthers
Who played in goal?
T

One of the Panther goalies was in net for AL. It wasn't Amy Snyder from Austin, but their other goalie

OK I get it. It is April Fools day. I am not your fool.
OK RSI was watching nascar = true
AL tied the panthers = possibly true but there has to be more to the story.
AL had Austin's back up goalie and lost 7-2 = true if AL outshot the panthers 50-10. So doubtful.
AL is the team to beat, and if they don't go to state, that is big news = TRUE
Need anymore expert interpretation.

I wouldn't mess with falcons like that....jetjock wrote:Falcons, they are messing with you. It was a 2-2 tie.
The big news this year will not be AL goes to state, It will be if AL does NOT make it to state.

Jet,
Your opinion is usually more grounded than some of the people here on the 1A thread (falcons, PUCK1, PUCK2 et al). Why is it that you believe AL is so State Tourney worthy? I believe AL, along with Faribo, should be strong contenders for the 1A title, but a lot can happen between now and then.

I for one was at the game and since it's no longer April 1st I should be honest... the goalie was rotated and both were pink..both good NEITHER from or near Austin..one was from Farmington
AL was dominated but the pink goalie kept it close for a while...end of story yet I still remain true to AL
GO TIGERS!!!

I saw the showcase score 7-2 PINK. I knew Amy Snyder hasn't played for the pink panthers for a long, long time. So I knew that was bull. The goalie swap seems like something jet would do. It still says alot that AL scored 2 goals. Look at what the Panthers are doing to other teams. 11-1 to Burnsville.
It will be big news if AL does not make it to State.

Losing your mind Falcons, I 'll leave that to the AL contingency. I guess showcase only wants a 6 goal differnce put on the scores. So yes, they do change the scores.
I didn't realize that I left one of my sentences incomplete. I was trying to give a boxscore of the AL/Pink game. AL had a 2-0 lead, then it was tied 2-2, and then it finished 7-2. Sorry falcons, I will stay away from stats.
To have a State tournament team, it is like putting together a puzzle. Last year, Austin had the pieces and Bray put them together. However; these pieces took 10 years to create and every piece is necessary and needed and must fit together. When I first worked with these pieces, 10 years ago, I knew they would be in a State tournament. In single A hockey it is very hard to replace these pieces when you lose them. Can you create these pieces in 6 months? I don't know, but this is what will slow Austin down.
After watching AL, Sunday, they have these pieces. The hard work has been done. I expect alot from that group. However; it is hockey, and I love Faaribault's top line. That is a huge puzzle piece, I just do not know what their other pieces are capable of.

My info about the Panther goalies came from the AL Showcase coach. I was told the Panthers have 2 goalies and that one of them is Amy Snyder. I asked a player from the AL team after the game if Snyder played and I was told it was their other goalie. It wouldn't surprise or bother me if Showcase changed the final scores.
AL has a pretty solid team going into the season and I like their chances, but without having played one game it's pretty hard to say they will win the Section title. Like Jet said there are a lot of things that go into a State Tourney team, a lot of variables, a lot of things that have to come together at the right time.
I don't know much at all about Faribo's other players, but I know they will have at least 1 very good, very fast line.
Same holds true for Austin, I don't know much about the entire team but as long as #12 is lacing them up for the Packers they will be tough to beat.
Let's not forget about Northfield. They return their entire team from last year. A team that beat AL 3-1 in the opener, despite being outshot almost 2-1.
I think the Section, and Conference, will be pretty tight.
SECTION
1. AL
2. Faribo
3. Austin
4. Northfield
5. Red Wing
6. Waseca
