Its a 4AA thread, what did you expect after conspiring to have them thrown out? Not taken as a shot, "under the radar" wasn't the plan! Haven't won a big game, goaltending "issues", senior "issues"...

Try Sparlimb, Hillfan, Parchisi ... You know who I meant you, you....

yea, i will admit we recruited ONE player...i dont want to start counting how many hill has.
PLEASE DUBBFAN STOP WHILE YOU'RE AHEAD.
You're making the city of White Bear Lake look bad and you don't even know it. GET THIS through your head:
Good players go to good programs, they don't need to be recruited
You've obviously never been through high school hockey before because you think it's recruiting when really it's a transfer, or else the player knew he was going to go to a specific high school going into 9th grade.
Also, I'm a White Bear fan as well, but Hill Murray did not get "lucky". Check the last three years, specifically the game on December 22. You'll find the Bears got beat 5-2, and they've been 0-8 i believe in the past three years against HM. In my book, coming back from a two goal lead when you've already beaten the team 7 times in 2 years isn't "lucky".
As for you calling HM trash talkers and then saying they know nothing about hockey, you're being a bit hypocritical. Even though as WBL players it's their biggest rivalry, they still respect HM because they are a good team. No need for the "H" word.
well put sicknasty
dubbfan has a point.
but well put
Govs93, You are obviously a big high school hockey fan and, being an old Phalen area guy I too, have a fondness for Johnson High. I would love to see a return to JHS's glory days & was thrilled when they made it back to State in 1984 and 1991.
But....you are wrong about HM's student & fan support. I was at the game last night at St. Croix Rec. HM easily had 4 times as many fans as Mahtomedi. HM is 1/3 of the size of WBL and some of the other schools they play and routinely outdraw them. HM's student section is as good as any - especially for a school of about 850 in grades 9-12. The pep band was at the Excel Center Saturday vs. STA & is at about 1/3 of the games. They livened up that big arena. HM has had some Tuesday games this year. That hurts the size of the student section because of conflicts w/ boys & girls basketball & girls hockey. All 4 teams had games last night. That takes away 100s of kids who play on Frosh, B, JV & V teams plus cheerleaders, etc. The Saturday games scheduled at 3pm have alway been something of a dud compared to Sat. night games. You seem to be basing your opinion on one Sat. game vs. Moorhead. I'm glad HM plays Moorhead every year but it's not exactly a rivalry game. You should have been at Aldrich for HM-WBL on Dec. 22. It would have reminded you of those great Johnson-Harding battles many years ago.

I think he was just trying to further argue his point that when it really gets down to it, what little fans there are for the Pioneers are the epitome of fair-weathered. I mean, that really is an understatement. They come to the WBL/HM game and then seem to disappear until when it comes time for sections. It was odd. WBL played Hill in the Scwhans Cup; solid White Bear turnout, but Hill - not so much. I'll give it to them, they had a few scattered parents in the seats, bravo. Don't get me wrong, Hill is a solid team and I'm not going to throw around the recruitment nonsense, but please, don't try and sway peoples' minds to think Hill-Murray has strong fan support. As for Pioneerprideguy - you should be content with the way Hill is playing, but don't try and compare the level of interest of HM with the likes of Johnson, White Bear, etc.. It is simply a losing battle because win or lose, their fans will be there

St. Paul -
Please spare us. I would like to know the last time Hill ever out drew WBL. I personally believe a great deal of Hill supporters are alumni. It is sad that a Hockey program so rich in tradition fails to draw support from it's student body. As for others who want to flame Govs for supporting his team, that is pretty bush league if you ask me. I read all these post from Hill supporters about tradition, yet they forget the tradition of HS Hockey in MN. Because if they had not, team like SSP, Eveleth, and Johnson would have a little place in their heart. Over the years they have earned that.
Johnson is not my favorite team but I can at least appreciate those who support the team and their traditions.
Yeah there is no way, no way HM outdraws White Bear Lake. C'mon, let's get real here. Don't try and play the numbers game either, I don't care if they're apparently 1/3 the size of other schools, they still don't have a very good attendance turnout at all. You're right that they had a good section at the Dec. 22nd game but then answer this - where were all those fans during the Schwans Cup? Or better yet, all the other regular season games? I find it hard to believe they're all tied up with basketball and girls hockey games..
Appreciate the comments stpaul, and while I cited the Moorhead game as an example, it's not the sole reason I (and many others) have the opinion of their support that I do. I cited the Moorhead game as a prime example of what's wrong. It would seem to me, that if the #3 team in the state (which I believe Moorhead was at the time) travels 250 miles to my rink to play my team, I'm going. I find a way to get out of work, I set my homework aside for a few hours, I do whatever I have to do, but I'm going. They didn't. They don't.
In terms of the HM/WBL matchups, I can't argue that they draw, but in a round about way, when it comes to the HM crowd, I'd almost equate it to getting courtside seats at an NBA game. If you see the people in those seats, about 75% have no idea what's going on, but they're there to be seen. It's more of a social event than a sporting event. I don't doubt that HM faithful have a genuine rooting interest when they do make it to the rink, but they don't it consistently.
To me, the basketball reasoning is fairly flawed as well - as you may or may not be aware, Johnson's basketball team has actually made it to the State Tournament the past two years, but it hasn't effected hockey attendance in the least. There are a lot of other schools that are the same way - Edina, EP, Hopkins, and Minnetonka to name a few.

vacations during schwann cup, plus 10 bucks a game isnt cheap.
our conference games usually are not very exciting. I know its a bad excuse but it is a reason. St. Thomas isnt exactly down the street either. The AHA game was during finals and i know there were plenty of fans there for the BSM game. Look for the Pioneer faithful in moorhead. Atleast a small group of 4 will be coming.
I'll admit to being a Polar fan, and I'll say Hill Murray has a good team. But it seems to me when the Polars play Hill Murray @ Aldrich, there are more North fans than Hill Murray fans, and these games are on Thursday Nights. Are there any other activities on Thursday Nights? It does seem like the Hill fans don't show up until sections.

The Hill fan is complaing about money for a hockey game when WB has plenty of kids there. Also i was at the BSM game because i wanted to watch a quality hockey game and it was just that, however the Hill student section did not go past row 2. You can make up all the excuses you want the fact is Hill doesn't come close to the turn out that other schools have, you can even count the fair weathered fans on one hand. The only fans you see at games are the alumni that still actually care about Hill hockey. Being a WB fan i love it, but its a shame that you don't see that kind of passion out of the Hill fans anymore. And no offense to girls hockey but i highly doubt that hockey fans were missing a Hill boys game to go watch a Hills girls game.

Duluth, Rochester, and Woodbury aren't all that close for White Bear either.. We also had vacation during the Cup. 20 bucks for a tournament pass, solid deal and you can watch all the other games as well. True fans of hockey would go. Psh, using that nonsense about conference games for a reason not to go is just goofy. Are you saying they're boring because you smoke the competition? I dunno, I think those games are still a great time. With a solid student section, you can have a pretty wild time at those games. I will be looking for the Pioneers-that-go-to-more-than-section-and -some-WB/HM-games at that games against the Spuds

Look for Johnson to be a possible #6 seed instead of Stillwater. All others are set in stone.

Sorry Buddy, no way Johnson gets seeded Higher than Stillwater. Stillwater plays a way tougher schedule, and has had some success doing it.
1. HM
2. Rose
3. WB
4. Still
5. Tartan
6. MV
7. John
8. Como
9. NSP
Case can be made to have Tartan & MV flip as Tartan has gone in the tank (losing 6 0f last 7) and MV has beat Tartan.
I think it is still possible for WBL to get the #2 seed. Providing Roseville beats century on Sat., they will have matching season records. With WB's non-conf. schedule being tougher, and the 1 win over Woodbury, it may be enough.
Tartan's loss to Simley last night certainly isn't going to help them. They have one real quality win over H-M this year and a mediocre record after that. I'd have to look at Moundsview's record and big wins to see what might happen, but could be real interesting. As I said before, there is not a big difference between 2-7 in the section.

I hate to say it, but I don't think so. I think the fact that MV plays a tougher schedule (primarily due to the fact that they're actually in a conference ) and that they beat Johnson (albeit in OT), will have to put them above the Governors.
