GR runs out of steam falling in the 7th after leading 4-1 early. Kleinendorst takes the loss on the mound failing to record an out in the last inning. Tough break for the boys, congratulations on a great season. Bring home the 3rd place trophy and hold your heads high.

Jefferson takes on Coon Rapids, the #9 seed from section 4 for the championship.

An informal poll taken at Midway found that Chaska and Grand Rapids started their "top" pitcher in their first game. Rosemount, Jefferson, John Marshall, Coon Rapids, and STMA didn't. No one was really sure about Stillwater.

That really doesn't show much since the only two teams that started their ace played each other. The rest maybe were trying to go by match-ups.

If I knew the other team was not starting their best pitcher, I would start mine no matter what.

I could not spend the whole rest of the summer , fall and winter wondering if I would have gone with my best, would my guys have been able to play longer.

Could not do it.

Coon Rapids was the #9 in section 5 not 4 but what a story that team is.

Sorry for the bad info guys. I heard from the back up catcher again that Chaska wanted Straka to start because they thought he could hold Grand Rapids and then Hand would start the second game hopefully they would build a large lead and they could pull him for the championship. That was the thinking behind that move but then with Chaska's Co-head coaches the decision was changed to throw the ace against the best team in the tournament and then worry about the next games. Not sure which coach advocated which, but somewhere the decision got changed.
