First time in a long time that I can remember Princeton beating up on my Cambridge Bluejackets in football. How the might have fallen.

Lest ye worry tom... Gov's nephew is entering the CI youth program next fall. He's a big kid and has a few screws loose (like the rest of his family) so you can expect a Jackets resurgence when he gets to the varsity level right around 2019! :D

Actually, my brother's already thinking about sending him to Blaine - which I don't understand - but whatever. He's got time to figure it out.

Govs will be getting his first taste of a Wayzata football home game this Friday when they take on Armstrong. It's "youth football night", so I have to drag the kid up there.

The "official" pre-game - the "Wayzata Grillout" - is being catered by Joe Senser's and being held on "Trojan Pride Plaza" near the stadium, and the "official" Wayzata post game is being held at Joe Senser's in Plymouth.

As point of reference, there is no "official" anything before or after any Governor football games, nor is there any type of "Governor Plaza" or catering. This Wayzata thing is some setup.

Once again, Johnson gets screwed.

How can a team with a 12-0 record only 2 weeks into the season not be #1?!?! This is a tragedy like none I've ever seen!

The gunfire sounds at 7:00pm in St.Paul,

Of course my mind will be on St. Paul, but right about the time they kick off at beautiful Griffin Stadium in the breathtaking Midway area("breathtaking" as in: if you don't hand over your wallet, you may take your last breath), I'll be stuffing my face full of Joe Senser burgers on "Trojan "Boofin'" Pride Plaza and heading in to see the Trojans vs. the Falcons. Should be a doozy.

You're right...

For $6 we get the burger, chips and a soda! No messin' around in the 'Zata!

For $6 at Johnson, you get.... uh... nothing. They don't play football games at Johnson.

What he hell kind of meat is that? Turkey or something? Is it even meat?!

Knowing the Wayzata crowd, I fear you may be right... I'll provide an update following the game.

Varsity Online is back

Post by east hockey »

I don't know if this website has been mentioned recently, but does anybody remember the old Varsity Online? Doug Hagen has resurrected it. Doug is the guy who ran followthepuck.com this past season for high school hockey. He's now branching out into other sports; it looks to be quite the ambitious project.

So, the format looks good (to me, at least); the scoreboard is in a familiar format harking back to how the old Varsity Online site displayed.

I found the football scoreboard. The link below show's today's games. There is a drop down box you can click on to display past days' results.

http://www.varsityonline.com/scoreboard ... stateid=MN

Doug, if you ever visit this Forum, props to you and good luck with this project. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help, such as scores' reporting, etc. Great job from what I've seen!

Needless to say, I didn't sit through Wayzata's entire 63-7 drubbing of Armstrong - we left after it became 49-0. Also, I'm sorry to say that because of my daughter's soccer practice beforehand, we were too late to sample any Trojan Burgers. Wayzata's defense is stifling. At one point early in the 3rd, the offense turned over the ball on their own 13, the defense held the Falcons without a yard for 3 downs, then blocked a field goal... That lit a fire under them and it was all over after that.

Out of curiosity - how many other schools are "no cut"? Wayzata doesn't cut kids if they show up for practice and make the grades - as a result, they must have 120 kids on the varsity roster... Nevermind the 9th grade, 10th grade, and JV teams. It's nuts.

Also happy to report that the Governors handily dismantled one of the most underrated 0-3 teams in the state of Minnesota ( ) - the Como Park Cougars - and also moved to 3-0. Tough one next week at NSP.

Looks good. It'll be nice to have another source on the web.

Although, I'd be curious to know where the rankings come from. I mean honestly... Rogers at #4 in AAAA?!?! Where are the Governors? They beat both Arlington and Como Park for crying out loud. Rogers hasn't done that. What else do they have to do?!

Besides.. I heard Rogers was opting down to AAA!

And who's this "Duluth East" they're talking about at #5? Never heard of 'em.

I doubt it, but I may try to find a way... one of the kids always has something going on that makes it tough to get across town during the week.

VarsityOnline is very nice to see! Star Trib's site seems to get worse every year, nice to see someone who puts some time into it.

It was a typo on the Fox site at the time I posted it... Not quite as funny now that they've corrected it.
