I'm putting this to bed now to, in all of this I hope the boards look closer at levels next year and maybe not listen to one person....and if the A team is somewhat satisfied with how its going this doesn't even touch on the B1 team which generally looking at scores its not getting better on that ave, don't have much else to compare to other than scores, now I personally hope a merge goes on next year, I'm already hearing people say why merge if we can't look better at top levels, but I believe a merged team if played at correct levels will make a more solid team and the other good lessons that come from playing with other kids. Now to be the devils advocate again, what is wrong with if say this A team played b1 this year and made the top 3 out of districts and got a trip to regions, what would they remember more 10 years from now playing A and losing most of the games or playing B1 and winning districts that year even if only a year. The group that just graduated from cambrige isanti or a couple years ago won districts at either peewee b1 or bantam b1 I can't remember and I've heard how wonderful it was for them. There hasn't been many teams out of cambridge or north branch for that matter to get to say that. I've heard arguments from high school that if they don't play a level they will lack skills at high school, so when blaine and wayzata and elk river (for examble since their last years peewee b1 won state and the b1 bantam went to state.....those kids I'm betting do just as fine with their own talent level at high school as the ones on the A team, I guess I'm trying to say I'm sure those on the b bantam contribute just as much. It isn't always easy or fun to get an butt kicking year after year. Yes it is what you make of it, but better decisions can probably be made from the beginning. Good luck with the elks tonight they are playing in a funk as of late. Lost to st. cloud last night 3-2. keep it under 5 goal differential thats a morale victory
I've talked to most of the players and they have said no way would they want to play b-1.. I think it's a pride thing. You sure are changing your tune. You said before about a .500 b-1 team ??
5 GOALS, we'll see. The Elks better bring their A game.

Elk River 6 CINB 0
I thought it would be closer than the 7-1 in the first game. About the same.... Hats off to Elk River. Were the shots pretty lopsided?

No such thing! A good parent gives their kids all the tools to be successful. Good luck in the future......
Ha ha!! good one. You seem to know so much about CINB and Centennial red that I think I'm pretty spot on. But we can have fun with this!! lol
and if you follow any hockey at all ... you know it is the HOFF family!! And from what I saw Centennial Red would beat CI Bantam A's.
Really chuck?? Relax, we don't have to be naming names here do we??
It's too bad we will never find out WHO would win that game.
I'm thinking it would be pretty close, with maybe a slight edge to CR for superior goaltending.
Cowboy wrote:I gotta jump in again on the CINB team. I've watched them play a handfull of games this year and there has been a big improvement in overall team play. The last game I watched against Princeton I thought the goalie played very good, actually he kept them in the game.
Individual play looks much as it did when I watched them earlier in the year, didn't really see anyone that could stickhandle around an opponent and not a whole lot of completed passes. What the team has improved on is playing smarter; they dump the puck into the offensive zone when they get across the redline and the offense is basically throw the puck in front of the net and bang it around a bit. Pretty simple, safe hockey. They also do a better job of somewhat limiting good scoring chances by their opponents. That coupled with the improved goalie play is what I've seen is the biggest difference.
According to the D10 website CINB has been outscored 33-117 in D10 games for an average of 1.9-6.8. When you average less than 2 goals a game it's hard to believe that better goaltending would have them in the thick of things.
I think they easily would have been in the top 4 at the B1 level though and well above .500. For 75% of their games they would have had the top 3-4 players on the ice. The rest of the team would have been average B1 players for the most part. The last game I went to I thought they were getting handled pretty well everywhere but on the scoreboard where it was tied when I left. But the parents were pretty excited saying how they had improved so much much and how the two teams were basically even. So I guess it depends on your point of view.
I think playing A hockey has improved their team game and individual decision making but I think it came at the sacrifice of individual skill improvement that they would have gained at the B1 level.

Add another 8-5 over Anoka

In fact one of them probably wouldn't have made the A team if everyone came back and CINB had 3 teams instead of 2 just because of the position he played.
But on the bright side, along with losing the 7 players they also lost their parents. It's just nice to see that many parents taking such an interest in their kids' education. Paying for a private school in these difficult times is to be commended. And splitting the family up by having mom and junior live in another town is a real sacrifice but worth it for that good education. It's just a coincidence that their new schools have very good hockey programs. Seriously. They told me themselves.
It just goes to show what a terrible program they have in Cambridge; they had at least 5 future NHLers on one youth team and they still couldn't compete with the elite programs.
Cowboy, has your child played with this group in the past since you are so knowlegeable about whats going on, maybe I can help clarify some details for you, actually it is 6 players that have moved on from this group that has been playing together every other year for the last 4 years. Most of this group was their best players too. 3-4 were the best of the team, Everyone one of them would have made this A bantam team this year every one. Yes you are correct about losing the parents too, I suppose your feelings on that depends on if you got along with them or not, actually a lot of great parents and put a lot of time and effort and money into their childs hockey training and probably do have more hockey sense and knowledge than a lot of the small town association CINB carries. For the three that went to private schools, lets see better schooling and being able to play on a team that their talents will be gratified and rewarded. For the other 3 either moving out of association, 1 trying the fire, and 1 transferring to a new high school they all have reasons that their families think is best for their child or family who are you to say any different.....is cambridges program terrible no but do they have things to work on yes like everyone else, but their bantam decisions this year between the coaches and board are quite questionable. Preliminary scrimmage for A bantam CINB, Forest lake 12 CINB 4 scored some goals at least, what will Elk River Bantam A or Blaine Bantam A do to this team, only time will tell........

Looks to me you probably are really close to the final standings with the exception of Rogers and Coon Rapids. Rogers might be ranked higher do to HEP points that took Coon Rapids lower in the standings. Overall the top 4 teams right now without looking at the standings would be Blaine, Andover, Centennial and Coon Rapids. Which 3 teams will make it to region play?
Princeton has actually been doing very well this season. just not so much in district play. when they are at tourneys they play phenomenal! 2 1st place finishes and 2 second places finishes thus far. they had a tournament this weekend but don't know what the results were. also, Princeton only lost to elk river 1-0 earlier in the season...
oh, and reffering back to CR having anger issues.. princeton was playing them in a final pool play game in a tourney. a tie sent CR to the championship, so princeton had to win. they scored with .1 seconds left to win and go to the championship. CR was so pissed that they trashed there locker room so bad 4 cops had to be called in..

Princeton has played some top teams very well and have more wins than Champlin Park. Had to give Champlin Park the edge though with the 7-3 victory in their last meeting..... CP has also played some other top teams close recently.

1: again? When else was this brought up?
2: I am sorry if this is false, however, this was told to me by the manager of the Princeton team.
I was not trying to upset anybody. Just wondering, were you at this tournament?
I was there. It's true - just call the Thief River Falls Police Dept I'm sure there is a report filed on the call. Elliot said discipline actions were taken and apologies were to be issued from the CR team. I am sure that is one team that will never be invited to play in the Little Ralph arena again.

Was the Princeton Manager in the locker room? Highly doubt it, you are not getting the facts straight from the manager. What about the Princeton parent that grabbed one of the CR players? Did you here about that?
Blaine: 58
Centennial: 53 (one game left)
Andover: 51 (one game left)
Elk River: 50
Rogers: 49
St. Cloud: 49
Coon Rapids: 43 (one game left)
Princeton: 36
Champlin Park: 29 (one game left)
Anoka: 22 (one game left)
CINB: 15 FPP 19
Spring Lake Pk: 16 FPP 18 (one game left)
- Blaine is #1 and has auto seed to Regions
- Centnenial needs only one point to take the #2 spot
- Andover needs all 3 points and for Centennial to loose all 3 to take over #2
- ER, Rogers, St. Cloud, CR, and Princeton locked at #4, 5,6,7,and 8 Respectivly
- CP, Anoka, CI, and SLP all miss the playoffs. (note if SLP gets FPP in last game they will tie CI in points and CI will finish last by way of 1st tie breaker....FPP)
Sorry chuck, looks like SLP will be on the bottom. They did not get their fair play point vs. Andover.
CINB did take 2nd place at the proctor tournament.
Tied proctor 2-2. gave up tying goal in last 30 seconds...
Beat Hudson 5-4
Lost to Shattuck St.Mary's 6-0 in championship game.

What might have been.......................
Blaine varsity had two freshmen on the roster Jesse Norling(Cambridge transfer) and Mike Brodzinski. The other CINB Bantam kids went to other good programs and are also doing well. Both C-I and North Branch have/had kids that play for the Fire, Blades, Machine etc and most will or have left. If those Bantams would of stayed they might of had the best team in District 10 this year. If the high school teams would have merged they could have competed for a 7AA title this year. A strong merged HS team would've built pride! The likes of the Elk River/Zimmerman HS merged team seems to have a lot to be ashamed about. Combined HS team and we would've seen these kids flourish.
