Probably a big game for ER to lay claim to 4 seed in 7AA. Common opponent with brainerd.

Blaine did win this one 4-2 it was a good game minus the 8 minute power play in the first that Elk River had. Than again there was a 6 minute power play the Bengals had in the second. Blaine went up early in this one 2-0 and in the last minute of the 4th penatly when it was 5-3 the Elks finally scored to come within 1. Thats as close as they would get. Blaine scored another 2 goals in the second and Elk river managed a late goal in the third otherwise it was all Blaine in this game.

Minimal even-strength hockey, special teams all night. The refs were horrible on both ends. Very inconsistent.

Blaine scored in the 1st when Tony Seibert made an attempted kick save and kicked the puck into the net. Blaine notched another one very soon after that, swinging the momentum for the Bengals. The Elks created many scoring chances, alot of traffic out front, but the Bengals did an excellent job of getting a stick on the lose pucks out front and moving it up to the forwards or to the boards. Blaine was up 4-1 going into the 3rd, and Brandon Martell of the Elks scored his 2nd goal of the night to make it 4-2 on the powerplay but that was all they could muster up. Good game but I wish the refs would have let the kids play, the calls were getting pretty bad on both ends.

elk river always seems to amaze me. they really never have all that much talent, im not bashing on them they work hard and have some skill, but top to bottom they are not as good as a lot of teams (even that they beat) its just seems come playoff time they shock people and find a way to win. you have to give sarsland credit, he may be a goofy annoying coach , but he sures understands high school hockey and gets the elks into the tourney when skill wise they shouldnt be there. gotta give em credit

It's always unfornate when the refs take over the game like they did last night. Still a very fun game to watch. Both teams came out and played real hard which was to be expected. Shots were very even(AHE 34, Blaine 32) as was the entire game. However, I believe the difference in the game was the fact that the Bengals have more offensive talent and were able to find the net when the Elks just couldn't. Shwartz also made a number of big saves to keep the Bengals in the lead. This was a huge game for Blaine as they look forward to Centennial next week to decide if they will be outright or co-champions.

Sarzlund did have the around his finger giving the elks 5 2-man advantages including 3 in the first peiod. But Blaine is playing to good scoring twice in 12 seconds in the first. Schwartz made some huge saves and the defense played great. The way they're playing now the Bengals should win the conference championship and could do something great in the state tournament
